Got a New RX8!

This is my first car ! I am so happy! I was planning to buy the subaru impreza wrx, but my mom wanted me to use an automatic (so she can drive it *sometimes* hehe). I got the Galaxy Grey. Picking it up in 30 minutes !!
I have been lurking these forums for awhile and have read both faults and promises of this car. Also the test drive awesome, and I love the sound of the rotary engine! The looks = Sex

Just make sure you rev it once in a while.

OH and remember, put Synthetic oil only. Thats what I do.

To change the oil, do I have to take it to the Mazda dealer? or is this easily done by myself?

Ya, redline it at least once a week. Once a day if you can. It keeps the engine clean.

Change the oil urself, as well as all the other fluids when the time comes. Its nice to get a lil dirty once in a while and the peace of mind knowing exactly what you have taken out and put in your car. I use Royal Purple products, learn to use the search button and 95% of any questions you have will be answered. Congrats you spoiled SOB!! LOL my first car was an '82 Firebird that blew up 2 months after getting it, then i got an '85 Chevy S-10 in its stead (no im not that old--29).

Congrats on getting your RX8. Galaxy Gray is a beautiful color.
My first car was a 66 Chevy. You are blessed! Baby the paint and interior, but remember a redline a day keeps the sludge away!

Sine this thread is about an auto, you put in the "manual mode" and then shift at redline.

Here's a link to Racing Beat. they have an article on how to properly break in your new rotary engine. They also have a lot of good information on basic mods, care and the how much you can expect to get from different upgrades (not much).

As far as the synthetic oil vs. regular oil, do your homework and read the discussions, be careful of the source of the information, and if in doubt follow the owners manual and you won't have warranty issues.

Enjoy!

Whats a good first performance mod for the RX8? BTW I already fooled around with my friends STi and my other friends RSX-S =D..STi=Too fast(Not TOO big but still), and RSX-S was smoked with ease! This was all done on our private church parking lot that had a giant empty lot, so nothing too illegal.

Everyone who shows up asks the same question so I'll give you the stock answer:

what are your goals? Search around the aftermarket upgrades threads and wheels/tires/suspension threads there is a lot of great information. That way you can ask some more specific questions and post them in the threads so you get responses from the experts.

If you want a large power upgrade then you want to get an FI kit. Either Mazsport turbo or Petitt S/C or Axial Flow S/C. There are some good NA mods but they don't give you much bang for the buck ~$100/hp. The best ones are outlined pretty well on Racingbeat's site (click the link I posted). I think the best bang for the buck NA upgrade is a high flow cat and the Racing Beat PCM reflash. It's all based on your goals so read up and figure out what you want.

In my opinion the best bang for the buck is really in the suspension. Racing beat has a great spring, swaybar combination with Koni shocks. I have the espelir springs and has been a huge improvement. I would go there first.
