I just raced a dodge stealth (the n/a one) and yeah...from a rolling start we would be even until like 77+ he would start pulling. We then tried rolling start and I got him there. I was using the sport shifter, should I just drive with the auto mode? Anyone have tips for launching? One time I held the brake down and gassed it until it was go time, but I didnt really notice a difference, Maybe I did the method wrong.

 

The AT is not fast off the line. Rolling start is the only way to whip someone for a bit.
1st gear at about 28 MPH down shift from 2nd gear.
Just enjoy the handling of the car and forget about beating anyone in a drag race.

 

hehe I figured. Handling wise I give it an A =D We have canyons behind our neighborhood, most of my friends usually do their touge there.. RX8 gogogo!

 

1.) I'd lay off with the racing stories unless you want to get banned.

2.) There's no way in hell an AT RX-8 is going to beat an RSX Type-S unless your friend is the worlds worst driver.

3.) The WRX is available in automatic.

4.) Knock off the stupid racing, you're just supporting many people's belief that a kid shouldn't be given a nice car.

5.) Not only is the AT RX-8 not fast off the line, it's not fast at any time.

 

Not the best of decisions.

 

growing up in so cal, (and missing it everyday), i totally understand getting an AT. lol, getting on the 405 during rush hour...

Congrats on your new ride. I just recently bought the '07 Galaxy Grey, but I indulged in the MT...

If you got the sport package, your first mod should be new wheels so that it's not a dead giveaway you're an AT.

 

1) I will, but I am just being what a stupid 17 year old kid would be.
2)Your totally mistaken. The RSXS pulls less Torque and HP than even the AT RX8 and slower 1/4. The only thing it has on me is it being manual and it having VTEC/OD.
3)Partially False. ONLY the limited edition WRX came with AT, in my area it is either hard to find (We went to 5 different Subaru dealers), or it is marked up.
4)I will =P Then again I am sure I would do the same in a 95 civic for the few moments I enjoy it hehe
5)Someones in a bad mood? I already knew what I was going to get when my mom signed the papers, A rotary engine car that is DIFFERENT than the rest of the world! But yeah your probably just looking out for the safety of everyone and I know I was being stupid (17=thinks I am invincible..) so I'll stop until I go to the track!

The RSX Type-S dynos fairly close to an MT RX-8 and the more recent ones may even inch away from one on a roll. It's a WRX limited, not a limited edition, it's just an options package. Not in a bad mood, just here to let you know your car isn't fast and that you should stop racing people as a result.

 

^^Don't mind Ike. He just shows up to put down the 8 because he has an EVO. Funny thing is he spends more time here than most of the 8 drivers. We all know he really has 8 envy.
