Greetings!
Hello RXers,
This is a great looking forum, and due to the arrival of my RX next week, I thought I would introduce myself.
Firstly, I hope this is in the right forum...
After a quartet of utterly satisfying Skoda's in recent years, I bought a Lexus LS430 last Summer, and although overwhelmed by it's comfort, refinement and truly awesome performance, I ultimately found it a little lacking in excitement, and today, left it at the local Mazda dealer while they prep. my Winning Blue RX8-230.
I have read a few comments about non-start and oil consumption, fuel thirst, rusty hubs, cruddy air vent accessories and dash creaks, but love the looks, originality and thought which has obviously gone into the design, so am prepared to accept that I may or may not have one or more of the above to contend with during my prospected ownership period.
The RX-8 seems to be a car which owners love whilst owners of similar performance machines such as BMW's, don't share the same emotions with. I suppose Alfa owners are the closest!
Wifey has an MX-5 Montana, which is a bit coarse engine wise, especially after the lovely Lexus, but such a hoot to drive around bends and such a compliant ride too!
I only drove the RX-8 190 for a few miles, and found it to be sweet, well balanced and surprisingly refined at speed for a 'Sports' car.
I just hope the 230 is a bit punchier, otherwise i was a car which felt like it had good Karma, which is more important than brute power or fitted toys, and something you guys seem to recognise too!
Anyway, I'm from Herts, just North of London and look forward to some fun times!
Regards, John

Hi John:
A hearty Cheers Mate! to a friendly Brit (although I am pure blood Yank). You will love the "230" (they don't call it that here - just the manual trans cars have the more powerful "230" engine in it), and all that goes with it. Yes, it's a little more "tinny" and plastic-ridden than what I'm used to, but all that "go" makes all that negative stuff go away.
Have a blast and welcome to the fun. Love that winning blue!
Best,
Stew

You're not wrong mate
They lent me a Mazda 3 while I'm waiting, and it's a pleasant enough little thing, but I'm missing Lexy already, so it'll be doubly good to get my **** in that 8...
Thanks for the welcome too chaps!
