Greetings from Nashville!
Whats up ladies and gentlemen? I've been roaming the forum here for the past couple of weeks spotting the "in's and out's" of the rx8 world. I recently drove my 5th gen honda ex into the ground as far as what I'm going to get out of the engine, and looking to upgrade to a better all around looking and feeling car. I'm actually still in the market to buy and got my eyes on either a lexus is300 or an rx8.
Just curious. Is there anything I should keep my eyes open for when buying as far as consistant problems? Any tech problems(etc) or otherwisw I should be wary of? I'm asking because dealers here are quite the fast talkers, and I have more then basic knowledge about cars, but if I see something wrong with it I need to prepare for some fast talking myself on the price. Feel me?
ALSO. Something else I've noticed is the trend of clear corner. Is this purely for aesthetics, or are the OEM corners just that bad?
Thanks in advanced.

*READ 8 year 100k warranty
*Change you oil every 3k mi.
*Monthly check your plugs & coils
*Top Off oil weekly
*Get a catch can
*If you plan on modding Performance wise ... buy a COBB ACCESSPORT from MAZDAMANIAC.com to get custom tunes for your car
*Visit SEVENSTOCK.org
*Never sell you CAT, youll have a harder time finding a used one for SMOG purposes
*Buy an Optima Battery (RED or Yellow) depending what you plan on doing
*RX8 pawns Lexus in the twisties
04-06 RX8 should cost you no more than $15k mi.
If you could afford a 2009+ RX8, please do. Only bad thing is there is no Turbo kit for them & COBB ACCESSPORTs are not compatible with them. However RacingBeat offers some awesome products for 09+
*YES CLEAR CORNERS ARE A MUST or you can DELETE them like I HAVE

Clear corner's are just for looks... the OEM orange ones are quite ugly...
As far as your other questions just make sure the car has been kept up to date with all recalls etc. What year is this car? The recall issue is a bigger concern on 04's than any other year. How many miles on it? I would also check the clutch pedal if your planning on buying a manual, they tend to snap in this car so if its squeaking or anything I'd have them replace it before you buy the car. Make sure the oil changes have been done frequently also.

Dont buy an overpriced toyota.
The only toyota i would buy if i had infinite money would be the Lexus LFA. That car is just nasty. 9k Redline V10... i mean wtf. It revs as fast as a 13b running 500psi lol.
And the tail lights are the sickest ive ever seen on a car. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ix28tuBCsLI
Back to normal world now... Dont buy a 300. Buy Rx8. She will steal your heart, and dance with your soul.

Thanks fellows. Yeah I like the over-all look of the 8 better, and I can't get over that other then the 2 extra doors, the 300 kinda(if you squink) looks like a 5th gen civic. But its a Lexus, and I don't make it out to the track anymore really so actually appreciate the 8's handling in a pinch. I think it all comes down to price at this point. Unfortunately I will be looking for an auto. I live smack in the middle of downtown and do the rush hour traffic thing everyday in my commute. So if I do anything to the car anyway, it will be purely for looks.
Gotcha. Yeah I dig the clear corners really. I'm looking at an 04 or 05 rx8, 50 to 60k miles between the two cars. Haha, I feel bad for toyota..... Oh well..! I remember seeing that lexus LFA spot on youtube not too long ago. I couldn't stop watching it and I got no work done that day, haha.

See at first I was interested in the Lexus Sc series, but after doing my research, and the more I just look at the design, I figured it wasn't for me.
Yeah I'm keeping my eye out for the 6speed auto, but as far as listings in the area in my price range I haven't had much luck.

Yeah I've been addicted to this forum for about 2 weeks now. I'm teacher, so I get paid like one unfortunately, so I'm not looking to go about 13,000 for the car all together. I've found some in the 9 to 11k range, with about 55k miles on them, so that right up my alley.
Whats up lilring? Yeah I might take you up on that offer. Also if you know any aftermarket stores in town other then Tennessee Speed Sport let me know. I'm not really a huge fan of ordering off the internet too much, just because I hate waiting, haha.

*UPDATE*
I appreciate all the advice fellows, I think I'm going to go with the 8! And heres why:
I just saw another members setup on the forum, and he had some of my favorite rims that I've seen designed OEM on a car in sometime. The g35. Not to bite his style, but I think I'm going to borrow that idea. Its a clean setup. I know most members are into whats under the engine bay, but since I will be getting an auto(:/!!!!!) I will need to focus my attention show where else, i.e, the rest of the car. I just want to get it simple, no bodykits, maybe a lip and sideskirts, rims and some interior goodies.
Which leads me to my next question:
Any good aftermarket sites I can go to that you guys trust? I ask because I've been burned in the past when ordering online. Honda has a ton, which is a good and bad thing if you think about it.
