GT... Worth it?

Hey guys, sorry for making a possible useless post but after searching i couldnt find a general overall opinion. But my question is "is the GT package worth it?" I know this is a loaded question and it comes down to what you want in a car but im in Texas and i really could care less about the leather seats and i can add the appearance package goodies to the sport. My biggest concern is this will be my first RWD sports car and the sport package does not come with the DSC and im not stupid so im going to take the time to learn the limits of the car and at what points it starts to "slip out" but in my area i can get a killer deal on a 05 silver lease return one with only 35k miles for like 12,500 and i driven it and everything is just ideal with it. (besides a dent that can probally be fixed through Paintless dent removal). But if i learn to drive without the DSC in the first place i dont think i will have any issues since i will learn the limits.

Thanks and i apologize if this thread is useless

I'd rather have a base with the sport upgrade. While I turn DSC off quite a bit, it has saved my *** a few times and I think I would of damaged my car without it.

I have a GT though because at the time the sport was $500 cheaper and not in black. Out of all the models I like the R3 the best. I hate the sunroof.

Was just about to say that.

Touring has some of the extras that the Sport doesn't have, and it has DSC standard, but no leather seats

i thought it was just the sport and Grand touring.... yep, guess im a dumbass but either way the price is about the same. in my area for used 8's. About 3-4k difference between this car and the T/GT's. This one has basically everything except leather seats and the DSC button, but it has the spoiler and that stuff so....

Weight is only a couple hundred pounds, but it still makes a difference.

Al I wanted on my car was the LSD. I asked if I could order one with NO power windows and NO power mirrors. . . . . .. . they laughed at me

Yeah, I went with the sport for less weight too. You can get DSC as an option on the sport model (performance package).

There was nothing in the GT package that I wanted, and I think that the cloth seats are actually better than the leather ones.

If the only thing you're concerned about is DSC, you don't have to get a GT for that.

Yeah, drive around with a 200lb passenger and you can see how much of a difference it makes. It's enough to matter if you want the fastest 8 possible.

my current car has a LSD and im not sure if i will really miss it. It will be under warranty and the only mods i will be doing is getting rid of the cat (i can weld) and make my own exhaust and just drop in an air intake so its not like the lsd will need to do alot of work but i would like to have some spirited driving which is why im buying an 8.

What, you didn't find the free hits of acid in the glove box when you bought the car?

Limited Slip Differential.

A friend of mine has an '05 sport, which he let me codrive at an autocross about a year ago. When I decided to buy one, I went down to FL with every intention of buying a base model due to the weight difference.

I test-drove a GT and bought it. I just fell in love with it on the spot.

Okay, it's a couple hundred pounds heavier, and in the wrong places. I still beat my friend this weekend, and I did it with the heated seat turned on.

lol i am running out of ideas lol. also was scared to do a search on LSD images while at work lol.

oh btw i picked no on GT. reason i why i have GT mz3 was for the HID and some other things. but as for a sport type car , i just like LSD and TC.

oh i remember why i bought the GT MZ3 besides the other things i had listed. it was the only one with a 2.3l, metropolitan Gray, and MT. all the others where just Auto's. i cant live with a Auto

yea, dont forget to mention the leather seats are more like pleather and show wear quickly, and the sunroof rattles

But other than that, I.......well......wish I had a sport lol. The heated seats are nice during these cold midwest winters (even though my car is garaged from November - April)

Personally, I'm a fan of the Sport more. I don't need a Sunroof, leather seats, or any of that jazz. I came from a 1988 RX-7, so this thing is already super fancy to me with it's power steering and Air Conditioning!

Conditioning your leather has its rewards

ok well after test driving it for the day all i can say is that its a blast. Took it to a local unbuilt neighborhood (Roads only, NO houses) so its like a track and for the first time in my life "drifted" some of the turns and had the upmost confidence in the car. I will most likely be buying this sport package 8 on Wednesday and going from there. I basically got the dealer to warranty everything on it that i thought was a issue (condensation tailights), made them put new wheels on it and i need to check on the brakes because i noticed they were not quite (could just be dirty). The tire pressure light was on and the sales guy said it was because the car had not been driven in a while however i think since the weather has gotten colder the pressure has dropped so if i cant get the light to go off i will have them repair that too. It even had a dent on it and im trying to get them to eat the cost and repair it and they have been great to me so i should have no problem purchasing this 8. Thanks for all the input on everything and now on with the pics
