I think he's referring to the 911's hanging their engines out back. It is backwards, they have managed to make it work though. Now, with the Boxster, Cayman, and CGT they got it right. Probably the only current Porsches I would buy.
Bah, I might spend some money on a GT3 too. That's a sacrifice of comfort!

Sacrifices comfort? Have you ever been in a Boxster? Or any Porsche? My 25 year old 911 rides just like my friends RX-8! Same ride. A little more engine noise, but no big difference in the ride.

Usually the people who drive them are trophy wifes who are pissed their husband couldn't afford a Maseratti or yuppies who want to say they drive a Porsche but can't afford the real thing.
I may sound like an A-hole about this but personally I'm happy they added the Cayenne and Boxster since they have lost their 'niche' status for me. Due to personal reasons I am happy to seem them run the legacy and hopefully the company straight into the ground.

Again, I refer you to their autocross classing, where the Boxster is in AS, and the RX8 is in BS..

As for running the company into the ground I don't believe it will happen I just wish it on them....

Magellan, you need to drive a boxster S. Boxster might as well be the definition of overall package. I don't think it takes away from Porsche roots, in fact, its layout has an incredible amount of history for porsche. Just wait until the Cayman comes out, it's going to be one hell of a car.
Oh yeah, and go to a PCA event and you'll see which car most people are choosing as a track car, and not because they cannot afford a 911, because they enjoy it more.

Now that is what I call generalization. You're rounding every boxter owner into one category.
It's seems to me that you're really not all that concerned about the "legacy", but are bitter about something, I don't know what.
I'm also guessing that you've never driven a boxter, or a "real" Porche for that matter.
Like a couple other's have said...they are one of the most popular cars for autocrossing...I don't know about you, but when I autocross, I don't see to many trophy wives that are pissed at thier husbands.
Geez, I think this is the first time I've ever "flamed" somebody. But you're unbending closemindedness in this subject is somewhat agravating.

The Boxter is a great little car, it's number aren't anything special on paper (sound familiar) but they're a blast to drive no matter what model it is. They also have done a lot to boost Porsches business which is ok in my book. We may not have seen the likes of the Carrera GT had the sales from the Cayenne and the Boxter never existed.
