Sorry about what happened. But you should have bought winter tires.

Ah there's your problem... you've got some negative camber on that back tire.

Damn that sucks. I'm in Montreal too, have a black 8 too... my heart pinched when I saw those pics.

However, as you pointed out yourself: summer tires? at this time of year? In Montreal?

What's the story?

Hmm, I suspect you'll be well over the $1000 decuctible. Looks like at least a rear wheel and control arm(s). Hopefully no chassis damge. Can't tell about the front wheels but it looks like they could be OK. Doesn't look like theres any real body damage, but we can't see the front bumper.

Looks like the roads were clear - how did this happen anyway?

Well I'm no mechanic but my old neon once slid into a curb at 50km/h several years ago... banged up the wheel, cracked the suspension table, warped a brake disc, busted the wheel bearing... and then some. Ended up at 1300$cdn worth of damage even though there was no really apparent damage except a wheel that didn't look right.

Looks pretty much like the same scenario here, except that you probably had more momentum than I had since you went over the sidewalk and stopped after plowing a few feet of snow. And RX-8 parts are much more expensive than Neon parts, obviously. And the wheel that's banged up is a rear one, so it's hooked up to your diff and tranny.

Like I said, I'm no mechanic, but this might cost you quite a bit. Sorry

Yep, that's a hard lesson to learn. I learned a similar lesson back in college in an empty snow covered parking lot. I was just horsing around and sliding the old Escrotum around when I slammed sideways into a curb that I couldn't see. Ouch, that hurt the pocket book when I didn't have a nickel to spare! I feel your pain man.

snow on the ground
cold temps
stiffer springs
summer tires

marinate 1 day and spin

Sounds like a bad recipe

Hopefully there is no serious damage and the car is back on the road soon.

Control Arm sway bar bushings shock, rim. Maybe axle, check the brakes. Alignment

1800 bucks or more in damage.

Here's the problem.. cost out of your pocket... Need to replace two shocks at the same time. Might as well go with an upgrade in shocks like Konis or D spec. Time to do springs if your into modding.

My system was so F up that I traded it in for a brand new 3000 GT.

You may want to look into trading it. If you can put the spare wheel and tire on it and limp it like I did to the dealer you can work wonders.
