#26
I just moved to california in December and I DONT MISS SNOW, ICE, HAIL, AND SALT from the midwest at all!!! What part of the bay area are you from? I live in the Sacramento/Roseville area. I was just at fishermans wharf a couple weekends ago.

Just got my estimate from a very qualified paintless dent guy - $1945 - he found 40-50 hail dings of varying sizes - thankfully, insurance will cover, and since it is under my comprehensive policy, $0 deductible, plus no rate increase. Probably be a few weeks before I get it taken care of.

wow, thats crazy.
also, dont let your insurance company tell you where to go. they will always go for the cheapest guys. you sound like you found someone good, so thats ok. but always find a body shop that you like.
insurance companies are there to make money. not to help you. always remember that.

Yeah - I know what you mean - this guy comes highly recommended to me, and he's a "car guy" too, former 7 owner, works with some of the local clubs (s2000, viper, etc) - I'm sure he's not the cheapest - I just want it done right.

Update - finally had my life slow up enough to get my hail damage taken care of, so after 2 days of driving an exciting Chevy Cobalt, I got my car back tonight and it looks awesome! The guy I went with did an outstanding job, even the big dings on the hood are completely gone - you can't see them at all - plus, he fixed all the paint chips (not caused by hail damage) and even a tiny dent over one of the wheel wells that was there when I bought the car! He even buffed it, waxed it, and polished my exhaust tips. Anyone in the Chicagoland area (western burbs) southern WI area - PM me if you'd like his contact info. Great end to a lousy situation. Thanks to all here for good advice.
