Happy birthday, RX-8's !!!
A belated happy first birthday to 3Rotor's RX-8 (7-11-03)!!!
They're turning 1 year old all over the place!
Wow, how time flies...
Do we want to post our car's birthdays? (The day you picked it up & took it home.) Why not? Mine has a few weeks to go... :D

Doh! Actually, the real "birthday" would be the day it was made. Figuratively speaking, I was using the day it was picked-up and taken home - the first day you got it. Sorry for the confusion - I was busy all night trying to debug my DVD burning problems (man, it shouldn't be giving me even near this kind of crap!).
Yeah, so anyway, I was relying on your picking-up on the date the first USA owner - 3Rotor - brought his home on 7-11-03.
OK? So, I forget who got theirs next... so ... :D
There, I fixed the first post...all fixed...

About your build dates, ibfubar2000 used to do vin checks for us - been a while, scarcely posting here lately - might want to PM him and see if he still does that. He did it a whole lot, back when the first few boatloads were en-route to the US.

Born (assembled) on 5-26-03) Signed papers on 7-12-03; could not take it home until 7-14-03; one year ago. 14,000 miles even with a long wreck.
I remember the board going crazy this time last year!!! I was driving to the Midlothian port every other day to try to get a glance at the cars coming in. Bowana was able to get port pictures there through the fence. I wonder if he was one of those who lost hope and gave up his car; how many cars were given back?
Love mine. Looking for tires now. Thinking Toyo T1S.

The following is part of the e-mail I received from Mazda in June 2003--
We are happy to inform you that the factory has completed production on your 2004 Mazda RX-8—the car Edmunds.com described as "...more willing at high rpm than even Honda's S2000 because of the rotary's phenomenal smoothness."
Your RX-8's Production Date: 20030523
At present, your Mazda RX-8 is being shipped from our Hiroshima plant in Japan to your local destination port. In about 3-8 weeks, depending on where you live and shipping schedules, the port will release your car and it will be on its on the way to the dealer! We'll let you know as soon as that happens so that you can make arrangements to pick it up.
Got mine a year ago Saturday.

I think mine was built in 09/05/03, got it in January. I will have to check the Factory sticker. Mine has not reached the year mark yet, but I have put soo many miles on her. 12000 already. I really need to get my 1988 up and running again and make it my daily driver. My 1979 is still waiting on the Bridge port rebuild with a 6 speed tranny, I am actually putting an rx8 tranny in it.

I got mine on the 28th of July... This weekend I'm off to the streets of willow for my first track time - I'm looking forward to getting the 8 on the track and getting some smarts from an instructor. Happy birthday rx8!

I assume the people who keep track of when there car was made and celebrate it's birthday plan on keeping car forever? I never bothered to see when my car was built. It was sometime in august of 2003, and I bought it in February. Since I plan on trading it in for an improved mazdaspeed rx8, if and when it comes to US, I'll skip the sentimental birthday since someone else will own it in a few years. Congrats to all you diehards who plan on keeping car for a very long time.

Happy birthday to Pepper! Yay! She still looks to be in showroom condition with 6,235 miles behind her.
Amazing how few miles you put on a car when you don't use it to commute to work! My '93 MX-6 just recently hit 200,000 miles a couple of weeks ago and today, I noticed it already had gotten to 201,000! Poor thing... Got booted out of the garage to make room for Pepper a year ago too. Awwww.
But, so, anyway, happy birthday Pepper! :D
