has nothing to do with a bandwagon. Its more along the lines of of appriciating more then whining.

and yes, I stand corrected with my grammar @ 4AM.

Indeed. I'm really surprised at the amount of whining from people in this forum. Most of it seems based on unreaslistic expectations. I've heard more than one person whine about mileage, then say he wants more power in the same post.

and yes, I stand corrected with my grammar @ 4AM.
S'okay, the corrector was wrong too. Actually it's "beck and call"

Well, they just jealous that we got something unique. instead of going with 100 something yr old piston technology.

Mazda proof that Rotary rock with Renesis. and with time and effort, Im pretty sure people can make Renesis as good as 13B-REW, in terms of tunning ability

The Rx8 is truly a great! But so are the other rotary cars.

I'll tell my friends, "the other day I saw a nice fb and I waved, and he waved back!" But they don't understand, they're like "why? they are soo ugly, and slow, and old." Some people just don't get it.

I am a very anti-trend person. I think you should be different, or at least just be 'you'. That's what make this world interesting. I don't want everybody in the world to love the rotary, but I want them to just let me love it, and respect me for it.

I have been in love witth the rotary since I was 12. By the time I was 15 I knew more than most rx8 owners know now. I think I speak for a large majority of the drivers here on this forum. We are, for the most part, 'rotorheads' here, and understand it's more than just speed.

Yes, I've lost my share of races, and yes, some of my friends have faster cars. But you know, when I lose, I could care less. I got better things to worry about, and it doesn't bother me that I'm not the fastest, because there is always something faster.

I'M SICK OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had an RX2, RX3, RX4, RX7 (X2) RX8 (Shinka) ................................WHY?

The RX8 is TOTALLY DIFFERENT. It has a one of a kind engine. (it spins) NO OTHER CAR IN THE WORLD IS LIKE IT. Triangles spinning in a housing....the human mind figured this out over 40 YEARS. You get to drive it in 2006. I have a rotary bike...it's smooth as silk and it's 34 years old. Hold your heads up high. No exotic car at twice the price has anything on any of us.

OK..fine...other cars accelerate faster...BLAH...BLAH...Blah.....Who here gives a ****?

We have a one of a kind balanced, smooth, light, cornering, PRACTICAL ride that is like NOTHING ELSE.

Everyone BE THANKFUL we have the RX8
Are you trying to convince us or yourself?

Thanks for the cheerleading. I didn't buy the 8 for gas mileage. I didn't buy the 8 for resale value (if your going to resell it right away, why buy it). I didn't buy the 8 because it was perfect. I BOUGHT THE 8 BECAUSE I WANTED IT!

I owned an RX-3 in 72 for $3,000 new, and had a blast with it. I ran it into the ground. Junked it after 96k miles. Dent in every panel (bad luck). The engine started using as much water as gas. It was ugly, brown with white vinyl interior but would go 130 and man, was it fun to drive.

I always research something before I commit and after reading these forums, I knew more about the 8 than the sales person that sold it to me. I traded in a paid for 03 Passat, which was a stupid thing to do since I had no payments, but I tried to sell the Passat one year after I bought it because there was no LOVE! I had test driven an 8 in 04 which did not help.

I am now the proud owner of an 06 RX-8 and just finished washing and waxing it tonight for a trip tomorrow. My friends, if you love it, keep it, it is worth it. If you don't, sell it and buy something else and quit complaining. Dang, I hate complainers. Take responsibility for your decisions!!!

That really was my original point even though I didn't say as much...to wit...look at the engineering and math that went in to the creation of the engine. The metalurgy The cooling, the cornor seals...etc. Back in the NSU days when the development was going on, alot of work went into the cooling due to all the heat being generated on one side of the engine. All the work that went into sealing, and the progress made in all the gradual improvements....side seals, tip seals. Solving the "chatter " problem. Luckly for us, MAZDA had so much time, effort and money into the R&D and this engine, they couldn't turn back.

Not to mention the COOL factor. It is just COOL to have an engine that no one else has, quirks and all. I once had a slant 4 cyl Tempest. Different. I once wanted a V12 Jaguar just for the COOL factor. I have had old cars in the past for the COOL factor. I have an 72 AMC AMX, just because not many people even know what it is anymore.

The RX-8 is just as different, only more so!

Good handling? It drives like a cardboard box.
Edit: (If you were speaking of the 8, then ignore the above. Hard to tell. If you were, then the 8 was engineered brialliantly. Its called a driver's car.)

Anyway that's not the point. The prius has its role the RX-8 has its. There is no better car for the money. None. Period. Don't give me any crap about mileage, its a goddamn sports car. Can you find a sports car with better mileage? Yes, but you'll pay more for it. Can you find a sports car that is as fun? Yes, but you'll pay a lot more for it. Can you find a car that handles as well and doesn't make your *** feel like its been beaten by a pillowcase full of oranges (not mentioning anything in particular350Z). You will be hard pressed, but yes, you can and you'll pay more for it.

It is a unique and brilliant car that is affordable. Let the love-fest continue...

This is the whinners forum. Every cry baby on the internet comes here.

If we really had moderators they would clean that crap up and delete it.

This is a negative forum on the RX8

Heh, I had a used rx3 in 1977 (that grey/blue color that faded and got sploches on the hood) white interior and that jackhammer rear suspension. Best street legal go Kart you could buy. That fale wood steering wheel! I DID like the instrument layout with those little square guages. MAN if only factories would make a VERY limited run of some of their old stuff. I know that wish is completely unrealistic, but if I could buy a new rx3 now for about 14k I'd do it in a heartbeat to have it as a beater.

So what makes a Suburban, Escalade, or any other large gas guzzling vehicle practical to people? Most of those are being driven by people who want the image or who have the false understanding that they will be safer in a wreck in them. Most people don't use all the big SUV space they have. They just have large gas guzzling vehicles that can't handle for crap or perform in any other way. Most people don't use them for the only thing they are good for. Here in Houston, there are so many rednecks driving around in their pick up trucks that it's sickening. They are the fastest people on the road too! Most of them don't haul anything. There are always a few people that use their vehicle for what it was intended for though. What makes any of these "practical"?

Practicality is an opinion. To some, certain aspects are worth it. To others they aren't. Personally I find the Prius to be the world's largest joke of a vehicle followed very closely by a Hydrogen powered RX-8. That's the only RX-8 that has little going for it in the power department. The savings in emissions is not worth it for either of these cars. They are purely pathetic. The Prius doesn't get much better mileage than my Civic yet is FAR slower than it in every way shape and form? My Civic is a fricking top fuel dragster next to that ugly slug! That is of course unless you think a drag race is off the line to 10 mph as many of those owners do! What makes it so practical? It's not the emissions. It has zero practicality and is far more expensive to own than most cars. That is a fact!

Let's face it, opinions are always differing. That's what makes different cars sell and why we don't have only 1 for each class of use. The RX-8 is a very practical car on many levels. As with any vehicle, there is always another out there somewhere that does something better but no car can do everything better. At least, not yet...

I take it you don't own a house or have any children. Once I bought a house I started undertstanding why people buy trucks and SUVs.

I agree. Unless one can afford hired help, he/she most likely will need a truck, a van, station wagon, or a hatchback(!) to haul those bags of leaves and other housework necessities.

I still think SUVs are a bit pointless though unless the family is really into outdoorsy type of stuff. A station wagon hauls just as much stuff (cargo capacities in SUVs are overrated IMHO). Take the Forester for example; how much more practical can one get than that?

I don't think an SUV is necessary for kids. I've seen many SUVs just tend to evolve into another storage garage.

Bah. Only a few people are ever going to check in to just say "Everything is fine! I want nothing from anyone." It's always going to seem like whinners are the majority. People are probably extra nervous about getting a rotary too because they're used to pistons. I had a panic moment when I saw white glop in my oil for the first time. Quick search on this site and I was fine. The whinners will live and so will we with them.

Along with everyone else who says the rotary is crap, the RX-8 isn't practical, you can buy something faster, it has bad gas milage, it snuck into the bathroom without a hall pass, it cheated on its test - I saw it, it has a criminal record blah blah blah.

It is a very good car and the bulk of car reviews agree.
