I gained about 2-3 mpg by changing to a new air filter but then again it was so dirty that a concrete block probably had more airflow than the old filter...also about to change plugs and coils hoping for another mph or 2

I get 20-21mpg average in my daily driving. 2005 with manual trans. When I first got it I drove it hard and got 15mpg. I hated the low mpg so I installed a ScanGauge II to monitor the results of my driving. With a few modifications to my driving habits the mpg increased significantly.
