I check into this a couple of years ago and was told it is illegal to install on a manual . Why I ask ? He said that if something was to happen to the car or person that they would be held responsible . If someone left the car in gear and that car would take off ........big problem for who did the hook up. Of course someone is getting sued.....

In some places it's illegal to leave an unattended car running.
Last winter there was a piece on the news about how the police in one of the DC burbs were doing land office business prowling neighborhoods in the morning and ticketing running remote-started cars.
Check your local laws.

And as far as i know any quality car starter has a bypass for manual transmissions where you have to "set it up" to remote start before u turn the car off.
You drive home from work, pull in the driveway, put it in neutral and let ur foot off the clutch (as its tied in with the button on the floor), press the button on the remote. The lights flash telling you its setup. Turn the ignition off and take the key out (but the car remains on). Get out, lock the doors, car turns off. In the morning press the button, car turns on.
Fail safe for noobs

Just check your local/state laws. In the state of Kentucky, it's illegal to have a vehicle running unattended, even if the doors are locked. The laws purpose is supposedly to prevent vehicle theft. Even though remote starts have the kill switch if you hit the brakes without inserting the key, KY's law does not care.
Honestly, the odds of a police officer enforcing the law is pretty slim to none, though. I mean, seriously, are the cops driving around neighborhoods in the morning, looking for cars running? I seriously doubt it. There's "actual" crimes going on that they are dealing with (such as, "it's a crime for krispy kreme to only have 50 donuts fresh and hot at any given time; they need bigger equipment"!)

I have it on my RX-7s (FDs). Both are manual cars and only had 2 small incidents... Involving someone sitting in my car and them putting in gear. Besides those, no problems. I also had it on my previous daily and LOVED it! Remote start it, let the car warm up, and drive way!. I'm planning to put remote/alarm in my 8. Just need to find the time to get it installed (quoted $700).

I'll snap his neck.
We have a remote start on our TL. If you put your foot on the brake to put the car in gear without putting the key in, the engine will shut off. Not sure how that would work on an MT.
