As I was walking back to my car, at school(U of H), I noticed a note placed under my wipers. It read, and I quote:

TICKET: Reason you ask? For Having a SLOW peice of SH*T!
FINE: $3.50

I dunno, this didn't really get me mad, but... WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!!!

On a different note, as I was going through my neighborhood, a 8 or 9 year old boy waved and me and yelled, "nice car!" Im pretty sure that kid knew more about cars than the idiot who put that ticket on my car! :p

Anything stupid like this happen to anyone else~?!

So childish. I'd say it's simple jealousy. To go to the trouble of actually writing a note... feeling pretty threatened, I would guess. Maybe your car turns his girlfriend on.

 

i have gotten a thumbs up and nice car from lots of younger boys. Some 16-18 year olds to. that guy just wants your car.

 

I had a guy and his son come ask me a ton of questions about the car because his son thought it was the coolest car he had ever seen and wanted to know how much they cost.

I also had two guys in a Nissan Sentra, not Spec V, yell "Nice Color Fairy!" as my wife and I were going into the veterinarian with our dogs. So let me see, they have a crappier car and they aren't happy about it so they call me a fairy when I'm with my wife? I wanted to yell back and chase them but I had to cool myself down and laugh at the two idiots.

 

even if it was a spec v those things arent that great. All i really care about the car besides the great handling is the chicks def. love it and i always get smiles when they pass by... no complaints here

 

If the 8 was truly a "slow piece of ****", do you really think they would have taken the time to write that down on a piece of paper and put it on your car?? No, it wouldn't be worth the time or effort.

I agree with others, probably envy/jeoulousy type of thing.

 

Ya, some jerk wants to make you feel as bad as he does not having an "8". This forum pretty well assures me I'm ride'n high!

 

I haven't had one negative comment from anybody. I find that most people think the car is amazing and that they think its costs much more that it does. The only down side is I have all these Civic lemmings with the coffee can pipe, rubber bands for tires and enough neon on the car to make vegas jeolous; always want to race me.

That sucks. We should find the culprits and kick them in the throat. No one messes with my 8.

Alot of people feel threatened that the 8 beat all "competitors" in all the car magazine comparos.

Just jealousy, ignorance and fear. Don't let it bother you.

 

Jealousy. i always get compliments on my car, except one time i was pulling into my condo complex and a riced up POS neon with unpainted body kit parts floored his car so he would ride my *** and fly by me like he was trying to challenge me. i just laughed and turned into my condo. some people are just dumbasses

 

Interesting story. Living here in LA I didn't think I would get much attention, but I get compliments all the time, and I notice a lot of people looking at the car when I am stopped and in the store (thru the window) or when I am driving (the people on the sidewalk). I was pretty surprised as I used to have a 911 and people didn't give me half the looks/compliments they do now. I think part of it is the newness of the car. There are not a lot around, like the 350 Z. It is just uncommon.

 

You need more back-up. I'm only 3 days away... :D

 

First, its not that fast at all, but definatly not slow. Second its no piece of ****. Its a very nice car.

I know U of H is a University and I myself was a Cougar but there aren't very many people there that have a hint of intelligence when it comes to cars. Lots of them are still ricers that just got out of high school. You see large fart cans on fwd pos's all the time. Lowered cars with stock steel wheels, etc. U of H is a breeding ground for rice. There are a couple of WRX's there that think they are all that and a fat bag of Dorito's. Whatever. The other side is the guys that think their stock automatic Mustang's or Camaros are fast. There are a few legitimately fast cars there both import and domestic, but most of them are childish no talent wannabe's.

Just remember, if someone leaves something on your car, they are the one's with something to prove. Who cares?

I used to have a license plate frame on my Civic that read "Honda's are slow. Race me I'll prove it". I still have it but my car got egged with it. It was a joke pure and simple. some thought that I was hiding something under my hood and was trying to instigate a race. Others knew I was insulting the car's amazing acceleration potential. The guy that egged my car drove a Honda. Yes I know who he is! His was modified and was even slower than my stock one! This is why people shouldn't always believe every power gain that manufacturers claim! People take everything too seriously and wouldn't know humor or a good time if a clown was sitting on their face. If your car ever ends up damaged, then go looking for the guy. Trust me, he will always park right around there somewhere. That's how stupid they are.

BTW: That license plate frame has been on my RX-7. It has an entirely different meaning there!

 

I was just tooling nice and easy around some small twisties outside of Terrel Tx the other day and had to slow down a little because couldn't pass the truck in front. I noticed there was a nice looking Firebird coming up from behind quickly and he also had to slow down. When there was room to pass I downshifted and zoomed around the truck. The Firebird came with me and also passed me, no problem I was just taking it easy. Well when I got into Terrell I pulled up beside the Firebird at a stop light. The driver in the Firebird yelled over to me 'nice car, I liked the way it looked going around the curves and the way it accelerated around the truck." I told him I liked the look of his Firebird. We both smiled and went our different ways.

This shows that people who know cars can appreciate a car no matter if it's domestic or not, fast or not.

 

only once did a group of douche bags yell RICE at me..... and the funnny part was they were standing around a riced out Dodge avenger with bodykit/aluminum wing.

 

I usually find the senseless negative comments coming from those who aren't car enthusiasts or are usually "fast and the furious" rice boys.

If you're a car enthusiasts do you have to necessarily like the 8? No.... but you can appreciate it as a car and what it has to offer. It has wicked handling, innovative design, utility, great styling and a unique rotary engine that happens to be pretty good. Speed is not everything and while its not the fastest car in its class, its still faster than most cars on the road.

let the rice boys continue to dump thousands and thousands worth of mods into their civics. Fact of the matter is.... you can make any car go fast, thats not hard at all... but you cant turn your econobox into a total package like an 8. I don't care how much cash you dump into your econobox.... its really not gonna change anything and its just gonna be ricey, tacky and ridiculous
