Headed to the 2009 Daytona race? Stop by and say hello
Please consider this an invite to stop by, check out our RX8's and b.s. with the crew. For the test days two weeks ago we had a few of you guys show up, take some pics, sit in the car, etc.
The more the merrier.
Watch www.grand-am.com LIVE TIMING AND SCORING on Friday Jan 23rd at 1:45 P.M. to see how the RX8's perform during the race. Currently there are 5 RX8's registered for Friday's 3 Hour event.

Good Luck in the race and the season I will keep an eye on the race this weekend and hopefully when the races head this way I will be able to come out and watch, a coworker and I are hoping to do some photography when it gets towards VA of the race season.

I should be at the Rolex race, but I just noticed you guys are running in the Koni Challenge, and I'm not sure I'll be able to make it out on Friday. It depends whether or not I'm needed at work. If I don't get a chance to drop by, good luck! I'll definitely be following the race one way or another.

Congrats Eric:
"DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 13, 2009) - Who ran second fastest on Sunday's "Roar Before the Rolex 24" test day for his first time ever on the high banks of Daytona? Meyer Motorsports driver Payton Wilson of Chantilly, Va.
Grand-Am KONI Sports Car Challenge drivers Wilson and Eric Meyer drove the Mazda powered RX-8 into the fastest top-three cars during the three-day "Roar before the 24" test in sunny Daytona Beach, Fla.
"We struggled with setup on Saturday and Sunday while trying everything to fight a mid-corner push in several areas on the track," said team owner Meyer. "For some reason we are getting a fair amount of understeer and I would guess there is at least another second of lap time to be earned when we figure it out."
Wilson ran the second and third fastest times of Sunday and Monday without a tow.
"If we can get a few good tows, our cars will do very well for the race," Wilson said. "Our Mazdas are strong in the infield but just okay on the longer straights. This is not the best track for our cars so if we can do well in Daytona, the rest of the reason is very promising. We need to take advantage of the draft here at Daytona to get to the podium. I had one draft in 3 hours of testing and unfortunately it was not on a better run."
Daytona test days marked the introduction of several new crew members including Ron Carroll (formerly of Tri-Point and Freedom Autosport) along with Alex and Kim Ratcliffe.
"This team has the potential and chemistry to win," said Carroll, who took the Tri-Point Mazda 6 to the 2007 SPEED World Challenge Championship as car chief for Jeff Altenburg.
Meyer Motorsports will run two Mazda RX8s for the entire season in the KONI Sports Car Challenge Series. The team is based in Indianapolis, Ind."

Well, the #30 car did pretty well running as high as 6th in class (at least while I was watching the T&S) at one point. Congrats to Eric and company for a respectible finish.
