Headlights?

Hey Everyone!
Is it me or do the lights barely/don't move?
I asked my salesman and he guessed that you wouldn't notice it but they do help. Ever since I've seen that commercial with the guy on the bike followed by the car with the moving lights, I wonder why my lights do move as much. But then again it is a commercial! No warning lights have come on.

What commercial? The lights don't move left/right on this car, they only move up/down which is automatic based on how much the car is weighed down by passengers.

oh I thought they moved left/right also. Just this commercial of a bicycle rider in the mountains in the dead of dark. His little headlight goes out and a car comes from behind and starts following him. Helping him see with his moveable headlights.
I'll check my manual. But the lights don't move on the angle the car is on though?
Thanks for the info.

IIRC that's a BMW commercial you're talking about

It's the Passat commercial with the guy on the bike getting help at night. The rx8 does not have that feature.

i don't see why they'd put an auto level for passenger weight... as passengers should be centered anyway...

further more... if you're going down hill... or uphill.. the weight shifts forward or backward respectively... so.... the headlights should still tilt up and down when goign up and down...

but i never notice

I had an IS300 before the 8 and you could see the headlights adjust quite a bit with hills, acceleration and deceleration. On the 8 the only time I've ever seen it happen is one time when I first got my car, they leveled just a tiny bit in the garage. They're not very active auto-adjusting headlights, but it seems they actually do it.

I figure they level when I just turn the lights on, so that the dimmer initial light doesn't make the levelling all that obvious - is that about right?

Our car has lights? My sales person said it didn't have any so the car would be lighter.
