Heated side mirrors.... How so?

Dumb question...... Ok I realize that we have heated side mirrors w/ the GT package (which's what I have). But tonite when I was testing the mirrors, they are not heated at any point. Both driver and passenger side mirrors. My BMW has heated side mirrors as well and they are heated whenever the car is "on"? Or there's a on / off switch (I don't think so)? Tks.

most likely turn on you rear window defroster and the mirrors will get heated...

Well, my mirrors were all foggy this morning going down the interstate, and so was the back windshield. So I turned on the rear defroster, and waited. About the time that there were clear lines in the back windshield I started to notice the centers of my side mirrors were starting to clear. Both of them at the same rate. As the rear finished defrosting, the mirrors cleared up too.

Maybe it's just because I was going 60mph down the interstate, but it sure seemed like it was defrosting to me.

i'll have to check that out the next time i can. all the mist/fog had burned off by the time i left home this morning, so i didn't need to use the rear defroster. now i'm interested to test my car...maybe this weekend or early next week since its supposed to get cold-ish then.

They are tied to the rear defroster function.
