Hello!
I just bought a 2007 Velocity Red RX-8 Sport. Only 5K miles, 1 owner. It rides like new! I'll post some pictures tomorrow, I'd do it now but it's dark out.
One quick question, my wife said it smelled "oily" after a short drive on the interstate. I personally assume it's from the dealership changing oil. I imagine they spilled just a bit when changing it and it's burning off. Is there anything else that would cause it? Just want to be sure!

+1 I learned In Econ class that the best way to help the economy is to spend money. So I am doing my part to better the nation, and to think my g/f says I am selfish for buing mods for my car. If somone would give me more money I would love to help the economy even more

"I had money for gifts..but then I bought (insert car part) So see.. since you where all gonna give me money/items anyway.. I figure we're square and I just bought myself the gift....right...right?"

I think you bought Dominion's old car. He had a dead fish in there and could never get rid of the smell.
Mu ha ha,,,,
No really, someone may have changed the tranny oil and over filled it or the previous owner was using pre mix.
Make sure to red line your car often and read the stickies in the tech section.
Welcome to the CLub!

welcome to the cult!!!! errrr....."club".
Congrats on the 'new' car, this truly is a great vehicle to drive. Make sure you spend some time reading the owner's manual, you'd be shocked as to how much informative stuff is in there.
Remember to keep your oil topped off and that one redline a day keeps the dealership mechanics away!
Also, check out www.mazdausa.com and register as an owner. (you'll need your VIN) You can track your maintenance schedule on there, look for recalls, etc.
Oh, and post some pics darn it.

Nothing major planned yet....im enjoying it stock for now. I'm sure eventually I'll do a few mods to it. Mainly visual, I don't plan on hitting the track or anything. I will probably throw in a shortshifter at some point though.
Quick question...for smooth shifting with the RX-8, what's your target RPMs when you let off the clutch. 1st to 2nd is the transition that seems to take more work to make smooth. I know I've only had it for just over a day, so it'll come it time I'm sure
