Hello
Hi, I am a new member and I would just like to say that I am going to be a proud new owner of a 2005 RX8 by the end of this week. I've chosen a metallic blue color, mazda speed bodykit/wing and of course all the other goodies it comes with. I'm 18 years old and I go to College. I spent 4 years of my life working on my very first car, I had a 1994 Honda Accord EX-R Coupe with a h22a JDM engine swap done and lots of other modifications. I must of spent atleast 4 - 5 hours in the garage everyday when I first got my car and after that it died down on the garage time but man oh man did I work for that car. I was driving home one night to a Criminology midterm when I went through a green light, someone making a left turn smoked my car and it became a write-off. My baby, my pride.. my joy.. sure it was a Honda, sure it was FWD and sure it was slow, but it was mine. I payed for it and I payed for insurance. I worked hard for everything that car had and it was taken away. My parents have felt so bad for me that they decided to help me with my dream car and that's the next RX8. I am going to be paying for insurance and i'm going to pay whatever is left of the monthly payments and they are going to cover almost all of the monthly payments. It's a 50/50 payment deal I have with them with one exception, no modding the car for awhile and I agreed to that. I couldn't pass up a deal like this. I still remember when I was 14 and my dad towed in a broken down accord and told me it was mine, I spent the next 4 years fixing it and working on it on a daily basis and now I am recieving not a project car but a true dream machine. I cannot wait for this week, I havn't been able to sleep and I havn't been able to whipe this giant grin off of my face. I am so excited!!!!!!

I had a 94 ex leather coupe Accord 5 sp manual I bought brand new in 94. Very nice but traded on the rx8. No comparison. The 8 is so much more fun to own and drive. you'll be very happy and might spend some more time in the garage just staring at it the fist year of ownership.

i had a similar story, it was 10 years ago when i got my first car, a 1984 thunderbird v8. it was a real pos, but it was mine. i paid for it and paid for the insurance. in fact i have paid for every car i owned. i think it definitely means much more then if it was given to you. my sister got a new explorer in 95 when she graduated college, but i kept buying my own cars. she let her truck go to ****, where as all of my cars, were junk already, but well kept junk. i bought the 8 last year in august and have loved it ever since. the only time i wanted to get rid of it was when i was having problems with the suspension and i had to go in like 3 or 4 times. i was looking to get an s2000, but after it was fixed, i remember looking at the nose of the car standing next to my girlfriend and i said, i cant sell this, look at it. 2 weeks later i bought the greddy exhaust and fell in love with it all over again. good luck with your purchase and just remember to do all the services on time and check the oil a lot as it uses it. the 2005 has most of the bugs out of it, so i doubt you will have the problems i did, so enjoy it. you will get a lot of looks in the car, especially from the cops.

maby you can bend the rules......
if you are modifying it with parts MADE by mazda, and they dont affect the warrenty....does that still count as modding, just an idea....I know how it is, once the bug bites, you cant stop spending time and money!!!
congrats
happy motoring.

^^ lol I know what you mean, I drove for about 3 hours straight today and I am in love with this car. It's going to spend some garage time because of the rain tommorow. My garage has drain holes on the side of it so I can wash my car inside my garage, which is sweet! I am going to wash her up and clean her /detail her tommorow. I already bought the zaino wax kit I am so happy right now I could scream!!!!

Man, the rx8 is one sweet machine. I spent a good hour washing her completely, rims /exterior. The next 20 minutes or so I spent detailing the interior and then 5 minutes of vacuuming (the car was really clean when I got it) and now I am sad because I just found out it's going to pour **** rain tommorow. Oh well, I'll take pictures next weekend for you guys

Welcome to the crowd.
Just in case, the NAV system provides only a "Shortest Way" option, but unfortunately not a
"Longest and Most Scenic Way" option, which any RX-8 newcomer (including me) would have loved during
the first month of ownership...
Your RX-8 may at this time not run as good as you expected, but please be adviced that the rotary engine
take considerably longer to loosen-up than a piston engine. The best thing you can do is to take your baby on
a couple of *gentle* long-distance trips in her early life. She will reward you!
I got my RX-8 in early March and put more than 12K miles on her by now, mostly with commutes between Boston
and Washington, DC (~420 miles one way), and "that thing" runns now like hell...
And a final advice: I don't know if you live in a snow area, but don't even think about driving the RX-8 in snow without
a good set of snow tires!
Have Fun

When I had my car new and was on my first commute to DC, I was surprised by a snow storm in New Jersey. The one mile
to the absolute nearest hotel on the stock Potenzas was the most horrifying mile in my whole 36 years of driving experience.
The good experience from that adventure was to see how helpful these little genies, like TCS, DSC and the LSD could be
when everything is going straight south....
