Hello fellow RX-8 lovers! New here...
Wanted to introduce myself! Ever since the RX-8 came out back in the early part of this decade, I wanted to own one... especially after I saw it in the X-Men movie! Anyways, my dream has finally become a reality and I just purchased a 2005 RX-8 "Shinka Edition". It was, apparently, a Mazda company car and I just happened to be in the market for a new car after my previous car failed on me (1990 Caddilac Fleetwood... yes, I own that car and am trying to sell it) Only 30,000 miles on it, absolutely mint condition, it looks brand new. Only minor problem is it's a standard transmission, and I have to learn how to drive a stick shift, but I'm getting help with an expert at stick shifting. Everything got approved today and I am picking it up on Wendsday!
I'll post pics of this beauty when I get it and look forward to chatting to fellow RX-8 lovers around here!

Thanks for all the warm welcome guys!
Went out last night hoping to take a pic of the car with the big "SOLD" sign on it, but alas it was not in the parking lot. I'm guessing they took it in the shop to apply the paint rust protection and the undercarriage rust protection module.
One more day before I get it!

btw, I was over in the States last weekend... what is up with all the Vettes being auto transmission? Saw 3 of them in parking lots, none of them were more than 5 or 6 years old... all of them had auto transmissions... why would anyone by a Vette with an auto transmission?

My mom is coming up with me later this afternoon to drive it home for me.. then she is going to help me learn the stick shift tonight. She was born and raised in England, so she knows all there is about manual transmission. Said I should be good to go in about 2 hours... I'm actually glad I'm learning stick to be honest because I was over in England during Christmas and I wanted to rent a car, and I had a real tough time fining automatics to rent, plus they cost way more to rent than a standard. Plus, I think automatic transmissions really butcher cars like these.
I believe it should always be like that. If everyone drove standard transmissions there would be a significant number of less accidents in the U.S. (I.E. More aware of your driving).
And as automatic trans is a great invention, it has caught up to us with the number of "dumbies" on the roads without any idea of how powerful a car can really be. IMO all cars should be manual and automatic reserved for the handicap, seniors, and emergency vehicles.
But thats not the world we live in and we have to be extra cautious...

To echo everyone else's welcome and congratulations! It truly is an addiction. I keep coming back to wankel powered cars again and again over the past 35 years. There really is nothing else like it.
The Shinka is a nice one to have!

Hey guys, posted some pics of my car in the image section.
Finally got the hang of driving a stick.... it was tougher than I thought, I hope I didn't ruin the tranny... kept stalling to darn car, but I finally found that "biting" point.

The smaller cars with less HP are best with manual b/c you generally get better MPG and response. But people love AT here - probably b/c one less thing to do when your eating, drinking, talking on the phone, texting, playing with the nav, etc.
