Thumbs up Hello im new, wanted to introduce myself

Hey there, my name is Aydin, I am an airline pilot and I've just discovered the world of RX8. I have been looking into buying an Rx8 and im pretty close to getting a 2007 model. However i need some help.

I have been looking at some custom cars, and they seem awesome, but id like to know how many different body kits there are out there, and also about interior stuff such as ipods etc...

i live in turkey and the car pacakge we get here includes a 9 speaker, 6cd BOSE system...

just wanted to say hi and see what other kinda folks are out here!

any inputs and opinions would be great!!

thanks
ayd

Hi Ayd, welcome to the club. You won't regret getting an RX-8, there's really no other car like it. Since you're a pilot, I think you will have a special appreciation for the high revving willingness of the 8.

What color combo are you looking to buy? There's nothing quite like a black 8 but I am also partial to the Galaxy Gray Mica. That's what I have and I am still amazed by how different it looks depending on the light. It goes from a deep silver metallic to a very cool blue. You should check one out.

As far as the ipod accessories, they are out there. There is a new integration kit that has been talked about on the Electronics forum. I lease my RX-8 so I am a bit leary of tearing up the interior to install one. You need to remove parts of the center console to do so with the units I have seen. If you're careful and patient (or pay someone else to do it) you should be OK. I have the Bose package in mine and I would rate it about a 7 out of 10. I would prefer more bass than it provides but it's a decent setup. You should put it through it's paces when you go for a test drive. Best of luck to you, let us know what you end up with and don't forget to post some pics.

Hi Aydin, you'll love the 8 welcome to the club! You can use the Mazda Ipod adapter kit but you can't use the satellite radio at the same time. I don't even know if you guys get XM or Sirius over there but either way you can only use the Ipod integration kit or the Satellite radio b/c they both use the same port on the back of the bose stereo. Also, you should know up front that you can't currently put in a different aftermarket radio because no one makes a faceplate kit yet.

The Bose sytem sounds very good to me but some folks disagree. You'll love the car!

Hello Aydin from your North neighboor!

Rx8 is a great car, undoubtly you'll be pleased with it. Just forget fuel and parts economy question, in Moscow for example all is expensive no any second hand part to find, its just doesn't exist.
But, by thanking RX8ownerclub you can find a lot to imrove and the way to make it! Its just takes time to read all, but I prefer DIY forum, you can find most interesting in this aspect of improving standart spec.

I've got Bose package too, its more or less quality sound, but there is a lot to improve, but I'll do it in future. Now I ordered switcher from mazdapart.com to hook up DVD and rear camera, that more important at the moment for me.
I saw one RX in Turkish, I was there on vacation this summer, it was the car of the owner of hotel Pacific in Side near Antalya.

Best wishes from cold Moscow!

Do a little reading here and you will find that you have discovered a car that stirs the soul. It calls your name and begs you to come drive it. In my long years, I have never seen a car that envokes so much loyalty. I grew up in the age of the Hot Rod. I have had cars with more power, but never had one that was so much fun to drive.

Is it the perfect car? Hardly. It has its issues. It is like the quirky girl that drives you crazy, but you just can't stay away from her. It's just the perfect car for me. If you test drive one, you just might find it to be the same for you.

After owning the 8 it has become my standard for every single other car that I see or drive and so far nothing has come close to its quiet smooth ride or capabilities. You will find yourself not wanting to go in for service or oil changes because that is just one more hour that you arent driving it. And from a fellow pilots perspective it runs just like a jet engine..... ......If you couldnt hear it or see your gauges you would never know it was running.

Welcome Pilot!
If you do not get the navigation when you buy it, it will be VERY expensive to install later and A LOT of work. (unfortunately)

As for body kits: ther are a lot of different kits out there. The Mazdaspeed is very popular and the fitment is perfect. There is a thread here called "calling all bodykits". I would look there to see what you like.

Hello from VZA765

Hey Aydim,

I'm new also. Just bought a new pearl white RX-8 in October. I agree that you are going to love it. I have never driven a car that is so much fun and turns like this one does. Have fun with your 8

If you don't have your car delivered with the Mazda sat nav system, and want one later, it is worth looking into the many portable systems available now. They would be much cheaper, avoiding the big expense of retro-fitting the Mazda system, may even be better, and can also be used outside your 8. You won't have the built-in look, but otherwise should be a better deal.

technically, you CAN do anything you want. but you'd be better off just getting an aftermarket one. Probly work better anyway
