The "Advanced Keyless Entry" deal is pretty cool - and useless.

But, I'm stuck with it.

Can one of the "switchblade" locks be cut to match the ignition?

Also, do you know of a source for the key-card blank keys?

ebay has some, but you need at least 2 to reprogram them.
Don't really know why you'd want to change it though...

I did notice some card-keys available on ebay - but the single vendor I saw seemed kinda...cheesey? Maybe I'm not giving the people a fair shake.

The point is I want another key - any key - to keep at home in case I lose the one with me. A card key from my dealer is $400. If that's the price, that's the price.

So - the next question is: What are reputable online sources for Mazda RX8 key cards?

i bought one off ebay a few years ago, worked fine. You can buy the key and have either the dealer or a mazda mechanic with the right computer program the key even with zero other keys available.
I was lucky and had two already so was able to self program.
