I'm not entirely green on ECU tuning. (I built a custom piggyback that copied the features of the mapECU for my FC and tuned it to run in place of the AFM by using logs of manifold pressure, RPM, AFM voltage, and WB O2.) But I don't have a WB O2 at this time, and I've never done anything with spark timing. I suppose the AP's logs may provide a way to do back-to-back runs to see if performance is positively affected, though.

Welcome, congrats and thank you! Never hesitate to hit me up with questions if you have them. The plugs, wires and coils were all replaced 3/26/08 with 36,477 on the clock. As I mentioned, join Mazdamotorsports.com! Parts at cost if you're building a car to race. I had membership (though I never raced) that they didn't cut off for two years. Send them a current copy of an SCCA or NASA membership and some sort of evidence you're building a car to run (ie. a photo of a pile of parts like the one in the back of the garage). Shipping is ridiculously cheap too. For instance a Mazdaspeed front bumper is only $1050 vs $1600 and $40 to ship. Lots of other dedicated parts too. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. And yes the pops are normal when the engine is cold - I loved them.

How's that for after sale support?

fc2se, so you got savedsol's car. He took care of it. It should be a good one for you.

And Saved, thank for the help you gave me.

I was under the impression that the dwell doesn't need to be adjusted with stock setup, only if you are going FI. So do you have to adjust the dwell with stock engine and tuning?
