Clear corners, Rotary Accents, Body kits, New wheels/tires...what does he have on it already, what color 8? Are you looking for car gift ideas?

(mike's last idea below this post), then clear corners

Can you provide any sort of budget/backround information on what the car already has?

Get the Racing Beat Revi Intake. Its $300 so it won't break the bank and he'll give you good rewards later that night.

i bought mine at target... called the transformer alternator. they also had a remote rc rx8 at my mazda dealership and at my frys, but yah... check out target.

200-300??? hmmm maybe autocrossing school? it'll only cost about 100 dollars but its kinda unlikely because theyre probably not in your area right now unless your in NY... check out www.autocross.com/evolution

you can get him the RP short throw shifter. thats about 250 and you can help him install it

good luck

definitely go with the clear corners then...the only required mod (debating off :p) and a nice photoshoot with you and the car your girlfriends take of you in secret...then you give it to him in a private album...he will LOVE IT!

comments to ensue in 3...2...1...

How about a rotary keychain? Has an actual moving rotor! Do a search for these on this site and I think there's two threads that have info on 'em.

If you go to eBay. Go to SEARCH and type RX-8. On the L side of the web page, choose which sub-heading you want... for R/C and Transformer RX-8 toys go to TOYS and find which one you like. some I think have the "buy It Now" feature so you can get it right away.

I got my remote control Mazdaspeed RX-8 (headlights and tail lights lit up) made by Jada Toys from an eBay vendor.

Wouldn't it be funny if your bf himself posted a suggestion? Then would you buy that and risk having him finding out it was you who asked this question?

???

How much is he into this car? Does he have any existing mods? Does have the capacity to install something if you buy it for him?

What year is it? If its a 2004 you could get him the new 2005 switchblade style keys.

For $399 I would buy him a nice radar detector, its the gift that keeps on giving (Valentine One).

For about $300 I would really stay away from mods that need to be installed (unless hes a huge enthusiast, which I doubt, because I'm sure he would have already mentioned what he wants if he was really big into this car).

Just by him something little, i.e. radar detector, Voodoo shift ****, nice set of tools (just buy an 84 or 130 piece set of combination wrenches and sockets/ratchets) that should be about $300, or you could buy him a couple cases of oil, or a nice floor jack(about $200).

I mean, if you get him a midpipe or any other mod that actually needs to be installed, its gonna be a 17lb pipe and hes gonna need tools to install it, or pay someone to do it. Tools aren't cheap.

If he is a huge enthusiast and does install his own mods(i.e. has the tools to do it and feels comfortable taking things off his car and possibly voiding warrantys)

I suggest the following:

Racing Beat Oil Cooler and A/C Screens (prevent rock damage to cooling system) $90
Racing Beat Air Intake $330 + Cold air Ram $130 total $460ish
Rotary Performance High flow catalytic converter $350 ish (make car slightly faster)
Stainless Steel brake & clutch lines $200 (make braking and shifting better) + Speedbleeders ~ $75
Optima Red Top Battery $120

Yeah, the voodoo **** is a great gift and you can get it custom-engraved by "the knobmeister"

http://www.knobmeister.com/

My wife bought me a custom engraved **** for Christmas, 2 months before I got the car! She said Joe Portas (the knobmeister) was a great guy to work with.

Keep in mind that a custom-engraving takes 2 steps. First you get the unengraved **** and "index" it by screwing it on and marking the front. Then you send it back to get engraved. That way it lines up just right.

It's a great way to customize the interior and make it your own.

I'm going to have to agree with Staticlag on this one. Go with the radar detector (preferably the Valentine 1 if you're willing to spend that much). It's the easiest and probably most important mod that can be made (although not the cheapest if you're going for quality).
