Been lurking here forever. Just got an email from a local dealer who says they just bought a smaller local dealership and now have one more car not allocated.

My dillema is that it is the exact car I wante in every way except interior color. It is black Grand Touring with black/chapparal instead of black/red.

Does anyone have any good pictures of the chaparal interior? I couldn't find any on the forum.

Whats your opinion on the black/brown leather in a black car? I like the two tone, but not sure about the brown, especially with the red in the LCD and and guages. I think the black/red looks sharp.

The car is already in port and I would have by 3rd week of July. Man this is soooooo tempting. I just don't want to always regret not getting the interior i liked.

 

I think the Tan interior will be more elegant and classy with any color. The red is more sporty. I have seen tons of pics in the media section. Do a search you should find plenty. I would go for it since it is at port. If not you will have to wait till maybe in October

 

i say wait for it. it'll only be a month or so wait and you'll be happier for years to come. don't compromise and don't take our opinions over yours, you'll end up regretting it later on down the road. i'm waiting for the extra three months to get the exact car i want, just to be sure.

 

Just got another email from dealership. She said they have another one with black/black on water. It would be here two weeks later than one that is already in port. It also has a bunch of accessories I don't want, but since they're all port options, we can still probably change them.

Time to talk to the boss(wife). I see a Black RX8 in my future.

is the dealer requiring a deposit? if not then just tell him to hold the car for you. then when it gets here look at it for yourself and see what you like. if he is asking for a deposit just make sure it is refundable. that way you have nothing tto loose. at least you will have a car onn hold and you can keep looking for what you want.

 

When the car comes in decide if you want it - until then don't say no to it. Heck - go for the fully black interior one as a backup too. Personally I think the brown looks like poo (or should that be ***) in the photos. In person it apparently looks very nice. However I am getting black/red and I know it looks fantastic.

 

All of the pics I've seen of the brown do not do it justice, I hope. It should look very classy and the pictures are all kind of discolored or something. I would definately take it over black on black if those were my only choices.

 

You clearly like the looks of the red better.
Red is so distinctive. Black/brown and black/black are
nice, but black/red just makes a strong statement.

If you need brown interior pics just look in Boowana's RX-8 Quest section. There are a bunch of pics with brown interior, but be warned because from what I hear the pictures don't do it justice. Some of the brown actually look almost a orange color, but that is just because of lighting and a digital camera.

IN YOUR FACE == black/red
Hot, Hot, Hot == all black

Decide where you want to be (temp probably won't help you much) I'll bet the red gets dirty real fast and requires much more effort than either the black or the brown. After about the 10th cleaning I think the allure of the red will wear off.

 

I saw a Montego Blue FD parked at the dealership 3 years ago that looked really frikin nice. I sauntered up to it and peered inside. It had black and tans interior, and I gotta tell ya - that color combination with the polished istrument bezels and the shape of that console...MAN it was sweet! I found it to be absolutely stunning. I've ordered red-black/red, but still wonder if Nordic Green with black/tan would have been just as delicious as that Montego Blue FD...

Iwantone2, where in the US are you? I may be able to hook you up with a 1st allocation black-black/red if you want. It does have nav., though. So you would have to flip for that 2k option. The dealer would see it for MSRP, as well. Let me know if you're interested.

I just found another dealer that will be getting a red with red/black interior and a black with black/black interior. They are getting both in August week 2. I'm going to ask him if I can put down a deposit and then decide which of the two I want after they arrive. They're also discounting $500!!!!

I'm just a little worried the black/black will be too dull, but if I can take a look at both cars first, I'm sure I can make a good decision.

 

Did u find your car via the mazdausa website? Is that $500 the Mazda Graduation Incentive Rebate?

 

no, i simply emailed every dealership within 150 miles of me. :-). I'm a little paranoid, so I'm not going to say where I am yet, but to the guy in Virginia, "its no where near you, thank anyways".

The dealer told me they are discounting all incoming units $500. I have no idea why. I know they already sold all there first allocations. They are competing against one of the biggest Mazda dealers in the country, so maybe thats why. They're only about 75 miles from me and since my local dealer has no idea whats going on, I say "why not?".

Once I get my deposit down, I'll let you know where I am .

 

Excellent news! Congrats - and for below MSRP too. If you like the Velocity Red exterior I think you HAVE to get the red/black leather interior. I have sat in a prototype RX-8 (Rev-It-Up event) in this combination and it looks fantastic if you are not the shy type. Heck, the RX-8 as a whole is not for the shy type with it's gorgeous attention grabbing looks.

Personally I think Black with black/black interior looks a little too somber. I would prefer the black/red or black/tan interior for a Black exterior.

 

Just wait and get the interior that you really like because ur gonna live in it for at least next three years.

You won't believe this, but after all that, my local dealership ended up having someone cancel and so I'm now getting they're first RX8 - GT Touring, Red Exterior, Red/Black Interior car for $500 under MSRP. I put my deposit down last night.

In case any of you live in the area and are still looking for a car...
I live in Rochester MN, the other cars I was looking at are all in the Twin Cities. Morries has one uncallocated car that should be here next week and a few more coming first week of August. Walser has a couple coming early August and are offering $500 discount. I also got an email from Luther saying they have unallocated cars coming in soon.

I can tell you that the Chaparral/Black interior looks great in person, particularly with Titanium. I know it sounds a little weird but that was the combination that I sat in at the Press launce in Detroit back in early January. it rally looks nice. i also think it would look great with a black exterior. I hope you have a chance to actually see it before you dismiss it altogether.
