There were 2 dyno plots that came out. One from them/one poster that showed 25 hp gain. Another from Polak that showed like 8-9 hp gain. I tend to believe Polak's dyno. It jives with what other people have been getting. If you believe what vendors claim I have a bridge I want to sell you. Borla, Greddy, etc claim 15 hp from their cat back exhausts and they got about 2-3 like everybody else. The only people that have realistic hp gains posted are Racing Beat, and that is because what they state are usually very conservative #'s. If someone is promising you massive hp gains with basic NA products believe them as far as you can throw them.

ike,
bad news the 25 is semi legit... vivid had nothing to do with it... search for turbo xs. long thread looking for people to test and the tests that were done...
all done in nova or md.... the bad decicion was that vivid got the exhaust to sell, and turbo xs doesnt think it is important enough to make the tips stick out enough and look better..
now search bitch.

Most general answers I've been able to find through a search. No need to ask and repost the same stuff.
Now I'm on a mission to tell everybody to "search" for the obvious!

So we have a stock 4.44 gear (which is already pretty aggressive), hence if we went to a 4.7 gearset it would improve your acceleration, but the downside is that it also increases your revs correspondingly...for example if you are driving 70 on the freeway & you are currently doing about 4000 rpms on your stock car, with new gears you may be doing 4300 RPMs at that same speed. For a gearset of say 3.9 vs. the stock 4.44, now it makes acceleration slower, but instead of doing that 4000 rpm at 70, you are only doing 3700 RPM (and presumably saving a bit of gas). You have to figure out what is right for you, and which direction you want to go. I could get much more technical, but like you said you are a newbie, would you really read articles on this, or just want a basic gist of what gears do instead.
