HELP! Is my engine flooded??
I would like to spend time searching forums to figure out if my engine is actually flooded or not, but i have to go back to work tomorrow and I have tons to do with little time to do it.
- I drove home from work (30 kms) Dec 22
- December 27th, starter turned over, wouldn't start
- Did the flooded engine procedure in the manual - nothing
- assumed it was the battery, trickle charged for 2 days
- tried it again tonight, same thing; turns over, won't start.
Am I flooded or is something else going on?

Prob flooded...does it sound funny when it cranks over....a smooth whirrr...instead of a lub lub lub??
If so...no compression...and flooded.
If it cranks really slowly or not at all...it's the battery.....

You will probably need to have it towed in to get it started unless you can pull the plugs yourself.....
If you can...pull the plugs...pull the EGI fuse...crank over 2-3X for 5-8 seconds....dry off plugs
inject about 10ML of ATF in each rotor..re-install plugs, fuse....put your foot to the floor and crank it till it starts ( or about 10 sec...then let it sit and crank again).
It will smoke like it's on fire when it starts ...the neighbours may call the fire dept
Otherwise...tow it and let the dealer fix it. You will probably get new plugs and the updated starter out of the deal...( ASK FOR THEM!)
Good Luck

Thanks for the help - but I found an old post on here where someone pulled out the fuse for the fuel pump.
I did just that - plus I hooked it up like a jump-start off my Pathfinder. Cranked it a couple of times, burned off the fuel, then did the procedure in the manual and had to coax it gently when it started up. Again, rough idle and lots of smoke (my wife's pissed because our first floor smells like gas now). Took it for a spin, got the temp up and then parked it.
By the way - speaking with my wife, she reminded me that I had pulled it into the driveway to rinse the salt off, then back into the garage. That plus the -15 C weather and I was doomed.
Thanks again!
