SEARCH! But, other than that, of course we are going to say buy the RX-8. I mean come on, Civic or RX-8? Is that really a serious question?

uh dude, civic vs rx8, you're kidding right? Of course you choose the rx8. unless you want 100% proven reliability (you can't do much better then a honda with a 4 cylinder) and better gas mileage. I'm sure the SI can do 30+mpg on the freeway where the rx8 does around 20.

DUDE...HOMEY...what are you thinkin? How can you compare the two. On the one hand you have a seemingly cool wannabe sporty "coupe" and on the other you have a real Sports Car. Think about what group of people you'll be aligning yourself with either choice. Think about what kind of attention you'll get from each car. The RX8 is clearly a superior vehicle as well as unique. But like Zoom Zoom said.....Is that really a serious question?

Bro if you are seriously asking the question Civic or 8, I think you should go with the Civic. Clearly they are falling into the same class in your mind, so go with the gay car, haha.

first off its not all options - check again - sounds like you're not fmailiar with the rx8 configuration - sport pkg is one of the lower pkgs - all aoptions means grand touring pkg and alot **** added like spoiler, appearancepkg, rotary pkg, spare tire kit, nav, and more

sport pkg 04 with 5k it's a good deal because of the low mileage

but most importantly .. drive it .. and have him take you for a ride

problems - gas is pretty much the only thing .. you get less warranty since its a used car .. and no it wont last as long as a civic (assuming but knowing hondas it probably wont)

sport package? that means no leather, no heated mirrors or front seats, no homelink, no Bose, no moonroof, no driver power seat...

but he said all options?

i think it should cost less.

Some things to consider:
• One's brand new, the other is (slightly) used, so… how **** are you? Would it bother you that you may never know, for sure, how the RX-8's engine was broken in? (Some think "break-in" is important; some don't.)
• The Honda will hold its value much better. Considering new RX-8 sales, I imagine the 8 will probably depreciate quickly.
• As others have said, the Honda gets very good mileage; many find the RX-8's mileage to be disappointing. (Though some feel that, for a sports car, the RX-8 mileage is not too unreasonable.) Remember that gas prices are going up—will it **** you off if premium is $4/gallon and you're getting, say, 14 mpg around town?
• From a purist driver's perspective, most would say the RX-8 is a better car. Rear wheel drive, that oh-so-smooth rotary engine that revs, effortlessly, to 9K, and a wonderfully light, agile "feel" are the highlights.
• The RX-8 is also just… cooler. Unusual. Exotic looking. Suicide doors that magically open to reveal room for 4 grownups. People will stare in awe at you and your 8; they'll come up to you and ask hey, what kind of car is that? That probably won't happen with the Honda.
• I imagine the RX-8 may be the superior long-distance cruiser. Smooth and fairly quiet. Almost relaxing. Do you spend a lot of time on the interstate?

Anyway, nice dilemma. Good luck!

Now what would they have to say about the RX8? What could they possibly say? Would you kindly copy and paste some of those comments?

rx8 seems to be the better deal, just be prepared for the quirks that comes with owning an rx8 including adding oil every few thousand miles, bad gas mileage, and possible engine flooding. Civic is probably more reliable, but I would go with the RX8 because its a nicer car.

like the others have said... but.... you are going to be doing alot of driving, so the lower cost of the 8 might fade as gas goes up... if you are doing any "spirited" driving in the 8, expect at best 15-16 mpg. the 06 si's are pretty nice. they are pretty quick also. plus you get the benefit of 25+ mpg. however... it is your money, do as you please...

You can't really compare the two.

The Civic's a good little appliance with low operating costs. The new Civic's are kind of funky regarding the interior, though. There is some cheap, hard plastic on the top of the dash and near the digital speedometer that is very troubling.

The RX-8 is much more unique and Zen.

I wouldn't call the Civic SI an appliance. It's a pretty fun car. A little slow for my tastes, but then, so is the 8.

I take that back. With the amount of driving you'll be doing and with today's gas prices, the civic would be the more reliable and practical choice. If gas isn't a big problem for you, and you are looking for a good looking car that is a blast to drive, then go for the 8. Do your research first though because no one in this forum will want to hear you bitch about the horrible gas mileage and relatively high oil consumption. The 8 is very tempting but it can also bite you in the *** later on with maintenance and fuel costs.
