Help! RX-8 Wont start!
So before I left for a week to go out of town, I started my car up and drove it from the front of my house to the back of my house into the garage. It sat for a week. I have a sound system attached to my car. When I got back from my trip, the car wouldnt start. It cranked and sounded like it wanted to start, but it would never fully turn on. If I cranked it, i could faintly smell gasoline. Just to mention something else, my mom said this happened before when we traded cars for a while. she got it towed to mazda and they replaced the battery, and said the sound system slowly killed the battery. Do you think I need a new battery, or would you say that it's probably flooded? I havent ever had a problem with my car flooding before (I have turned it on and not fully warmed it up before shutting off multiple times in the past, especially at the car wash, but it always gets started).
I also tried trickle charging my battery on 2Amps overnight, but the car just got that crank but no start thing going on.
Also, I tried doing the crank with the gas pedal depressed to the floor for 10 sec and then without for 10 seconds for a while, but it still didnt work.
What do you guys think??? Flooded or new battery?
also when i was trying to start the car, the lights werent dimmed or anything, but the battery died within about 3 minutes of me trying to do the Mazda deflooding procedure.

one more thing...
my car (previous to not starting) would crank a few seconds before starting, but mazda said it was because of my sound system... seems like a lot of people are having the same problem and not because of the sound system

That's probably where you went wrong. Next time, on a short drive, rev to about 5k for 10 seconds, and shut the car off while revving; this will prevent a flood. In the meantime, search how to DIY deflood, or bring it to Mazda and let them charge you way too much for a deflood. GL
