I dropped my car for service @Wayne Mazda - a highly recommended dealer on the forum. An hour later I get a call from the service guy saying they found a few problems, among them condensation in an oil dipstick... He went further on to say that this is indicative of a serious problem, that the oil is thinning out, leading to engine problems in the future. He said that is happening on some RX8 and Mazda has even issued a TSB for it, but since my car is out of warranty I would have to pay $711.00 for the ventillation kit with installation... they found some other problems that I could wait on, but this one they recommend doing right away. What do you suggest?

Contact forum member teknics, he says that he works for Wayne Mazda. The foam on the dipstick is not a issue that warrants spending $700. Your engine has a warranty to 100,000 miles you should have some time to wait. If this was so bad way didn't your engine go before 2009? How come when you drain the oil for a change you do not see any of this crap in the pan?

you can get the ventilation kit and do it yourself thats just ridiculous- or you can just ignore it since it isnt a problem anyway. it is only an indication that its chilly in your area. read my winter thread by following the link in my sig or find the gunk on the dipstick sticky thread.
