hey guys i have a question to ask you guys.

well when i first got my car it was at 31800 and so when it got to 34000 the oil change light was on so i change the oil and the filter. but now my car is about to reach 38000 so what should i do now? what would you guys think i should change or replace, besides the oil and oil filter?

ok buddy, ill play nice but there are lots of threads with these sorts of "dumb" already answered 1000000000000 times questions.


replace oil every 3k or less, keep a quart with you at all times and check every other gas fill up for the oil level.

If your at 38k look at changing the sparks and coils (if they have not yet been changed) as they wear out fast in our car (bhr upgrade would be best and save the most money in hte long run).

Other than that read a lot as it appears that you know nothing about not only the rx8 but regular car maintenance in general. This forum has lots of sticky threads that have this info. Please do not make anymore threads until you have reviewed these stickies, and even then search as your question most likely has already been asked and answered.

 

do new models have some sort of maintenance interval reminder light?

If not that is your oil level indicator. Stay on top of checking your oil level.

Check in your manual it shows suggested maintenance intervals based on your driving style, assuming standard driving conditions.

If you don't have a manual. then go download one at www.mazdausa.com and read it.
This car burns oil by design..............check it every other gas fill up.

That doesn't mean add a random amount, it means check it like you are supposed to do and add if needed.

Oil change light? Do you mean the light that means you are VERY LOW on oil?

You need to check and add oil with this car minimum every 2-300 miles.


Also you should read the manual the car came with......... it tells you when you should do maitnence on it.....

Trust me dude, nobody is mad. It's just interesting to see people that don't realize what they have bought without necessarily knowing it.

 

most salesmen at a mazda dealership don't even know to tell you about checking the oil.

 

My salesman showed me, and told me how often to check it. Played it up nicely as part of the mystique of the rotary.
