Hi, Just brought one.

Hi all,
Long time reader, first time poster.

Just brought an RX8 (Black 231psi with red and black leather interior with some silly extras like leather illuminated gear **** and intake fins)

The dealer (Europe, UK, Bucks, Aylesbury, Lodge Garage, Some nice guy called Chris) were great and I test drove the car 2 times but based my decision to get an RX8 also on the posts in this forum.

So just wanted to say hi and thanks.

Congrats on the RX. Great colour choice! What were the runner up cars?

Oh, and the couple who test drove one before me brought one on the spot, and another couple came in after taking one for a drive to replace the guys Porsche 911 Turbo. When I got back from the test drive I overheard him say "it doesn't have the kick of the Porsche, and at high speed rolls a little more on corners, but is a good all rounder" He asked for a brochure with some figures on it. Oh, and as I was signing, another couple came in, looked round the show car which had black and tan leather interior (apparently not in the brochure as its very new) and they guy said there is one out there with black and red (the one I was buying) and the woman instantly said, in a very posh voice, "oh no, that's far too garish" tehehe

Runner ups? TBH the RX8 was the first and last one I test drove Was the bodywork that made me try it at first, then I found this forum. I'm happy (I have a sports car) they wifey is not so convinced (trying for a family) but the "it has 4 doors" kinda shushed her up a little, she gets my old car (Peugeot 206 1.6) so she is happy

Pics? I don't get it for like 2 weeks... Its like any other black RX8 but with little silver things on the vents by the front wheels. WIll take some picks when I get it, until then use your imagination

But till I do, here are some images I found on Google. A standard black RX8, the illuminated gear **** and the air intake things (which I prob got to make me not feel so bad about not stretching to something more expensive like sat nav)

The 'things' are fender strakes; 4 metal bars that are always over-priced (I still want them anyway)

I went to the dealer I bought my car from to get the Rotary Accents and the new guy screwed up and gave me the Fender Strakes for $70. So I have to buy the rear rotary accent again. but hey one hell of a deal eh?

Had the same test drive experience because I really could not find another car remotely like it. The people on the forum are a huge resource and the local events are a great opportunity to meet like minded drivers.
Already have a family to haul and I can tell you that the car is fairly practical as long as you have two kids shorter than 5' 8" and only one wife.
BTW, Show your wife all the safety features and the built in child seat anchors and all the storage bins and pockets and she will be sold.

Wishing you years of fun. Congrats.

I agree with Raptor. Those strakes are WAYYY overpriced.
And I want some too.

Zoooooooooooooooooom Zoooooooooooooooooooom
WOW, it was raining, got dark quickly but what fun. I seem to be holding it in 2nd and 3rd longer than I would on my old car, where do you people like to hold the revs at? Also my first time driving an 8 in stop start traffic, and in first its a little jumpy, but then I am new to driving it, I think I need more revs when pulling away. Anyways, setting off early for a traffic free sprint to work. Latersssssssssss

OH, and top tip... don't let your wife drive your old car home (she is fine BTW, but the car is a mess)

Can you spot my 8?
