Hi Rx8Club.com (Rx8 or 350z)
I'm a noob here. I'm looking to get a new car. Currently trying to decide between a 350z and Rx8. I have some friends who are rotorheads and want me to get the 8 obviously. Some things I've noticed so far:
- The 350z has crappy paint
- The Rx8 has more refined interior
- The 350z is faster, more HP
- The Rx8 handles better (supposedly)
Umm, I know my observations may seem shallow, but I'm not a gear head. I do love driving and think I would probably be equally happy with either car. Can anyone here tell me why I should go with the 8?
Thanks!

RX8 is a more practical car (these are my observation, i'm looking at buying an rx8 atm also).
350z has next to no real storage space where the rx8;
- fits 4 people
- has a decent boot
- seems to be holding value better than the 350z (maybe this depends on the market you're in)
- more practical to drive
350z also has the problem with cupping (front tyre wear - no idea if this has been resolved in newer models)

I didn't expect anyone to say buy the Z. I expected people to say why I shouldn't buy the Z. Haven't heard much yet.
I will say I like the rotary engine. The cost is nearly the same for either car, if the handling is the same I'm trying to figure out why I wouldn't take the faster car. I will say I have a little more faith in the Mazda name than I do Nissan.

I am actually sifting through your posts right now, some are very informative yes, and after reading them, I probably still would've posted some 350z vs/ Rx8 questions, and you would've again told me to search, because you love to do that.
That's ok though, thanks for the threads.

And your explanation for your inability to know how to search is lame. A search engine isn't configured to find comparisons to the RX-8 if you just type in some other car. A search engine is a search engine. Surely you, oh master and operator of many messageboards, know that.

Sorry that everyone is a search **** man. I agree with you that for some topics, such as opinions, it is appropriate to start a fresh thread. All this "search" nonsense is internet elitism and kinda sucks. Can't we all just get along?
It all depends on what you like in a car. The 350 is very edgy. It's faster, gets better gas milage, and comes in a convertible if you want that. The reason I didn't buy it is because it's ALWAYS edgy. Even at slow speeds, the suspension is so tight that it's a bit jittery and touchy. The 8 may be a tad slower (still DAMN fast, and posted an identical track time on topgear), and does not come in a convertible. One plus is it has an AMAZING sound to it. Telling people you have a rotary and revving your engine to 9.5k with no effort is really really nice. Telling people it's a 4-door and opening up the suicides is clutch. I've had it for 3 months now, and I swear to you not a day has gone by that I've driven my car and somebody hasn't commented on it- no exaggeration. People ask what it is, they ask what kind of engine it has, they ask if they can have a ride in it. It has a usable trunk and actually decent back seat. And it's less expensive. The engine is less complicated, so there are less things to break. It's gotten all good ratings on reliability from consumer reports for the 05's and 06's.
So, I hope that helps. One of my good friends has a 350 and we always make fun of each other's cars. They're both great- but you know where I stand.

C4,to answer your original ?? My brother has an 04Z and I have an 048
The 8 is quieter,less rough ride,handles better,nicer interior(Z does not even have a glovebox),has a backseat and revs to 9000rpms
The Z is faster
Watch the Top Gear reviews on both cars, should make your decision real easy.
