Update on mine. Still original engine. 128,000 KM (80,000 Miles). Still pulls and drives amazing even though I was told one rotor had lowish compression. I don't care though, I love this car too much. I put in $2,000 worth of body work last year to get rid of rust on the wheel wells (was bubbling and looked bad). I already decided I will get a new engine when this one goes because the body is in great shape and really its cheaper than getting something similar. Oh and what other car like this has actual back seat doors?

Oh I did forget to mention that this car is no longer my daily driver like it once was for me. I have a Mazda 6 now that I drive mostly, so the RX8 is really only a weekend car now.

2007 auto I picked up from a meme we here. This weekend at gratten it rolled 110k miles on original engine. Always premixed.
|
Not the highest I'm sure but still aging beautifully, just rolled over 180,000km. Original engine, never premixed.

I got to ~162K on my original engine '04, would have went higher but lost it to an accident.

I hate to start a new thread but I DID do a search and didn't see any applicable results.
Anyway, the other day I was making an appointment for a normal servicing and my trusty dealer asked how many miles I had on my 2004. I, being the incredibly honest person that I am, answered 59,925 miles. His retort was 'Nobody has 60,000 miles on their RX-8.' Well, I almost do (by tomorrow I will have 60K as it is 26 miles one-way to work for me). So here is my question: Who has the most miles on their RX? And that means on their ORIGINAL engine...which is what mine has. 59,964 miles right now on my 2004. |
My 2007 had almost 186,000 miles on original engine when it failed. Now over 250k on chassis, transmission, and diff with second engine.
There is a 200000 mile thread on this site. A couple of examples of original engines going over 200k. |
One of my 04 Nordic Green RX-8's is at 140k miles. Definitely not the highest mileage, nor the original engine, but overall the car has held up well for the age and mileage:
