highflow cat

hey guys im about to start modding my rx8 and plan on gettin a highflow cat to mate up to my factory catback.. now my question is are highflow cats universal or are there ones made specifically for our cars? and another lame question our cars have only 2 spark plugs correct? a leading and trailing? i did a search but it didnt give me any clear cut answer.. i had the mounts replaced by the dealer and the car still has this odd shake to it but not so bad now and im thinking of replacing the spark plugs hoping thats it....

my plans for the rx8 now are simple mods such as: clear corners, grounding kit, highflow cat(for now until i can afford a catback)new spark plugs and wires, window tint, fender strakes i want as smooth of an idle as possible so im hoping the combination of new plugs/wires/ground kit will help in doin that any opinions on what i should do first/add to my list is appreciated after all im new to rotary's and theres alot of good people and nice lookin 8s on this forum

Universally bad.....

There are plenty of universal cats you could have welded in, but they won't last a month. Get a good name-brand one, on a pipe that will bolt right in.

The car has four plugs, a leading and a trailing on each rotor.

The grounding kit will not affect the idle at all, you could have a bad coil.

There is one for sale in this post https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...ht=hi+flow+cat

4 plugs, lead and trail per rotor.

Bad idle can have multiple causes besides mounts; MAF sensor, plug wires, coils, grounding and probably others. You can probably eliminate some by posting more about your engine behaviour and have members help you narrow down the search. A bunch of these would cause other issues.

Add the AFE short shifter to your list. It is the best and easiest mod you can do.

Good luck

The highflow cat it somehow special. It should withstand the higher rotary exhaust temps.
And yes we have 2 spark plugs but per rotor. 4 total.

Edit: that was late.
