I know, I know, I was trying to be completely respectful, but there were just a few lame guys that want to sit there and bash these cars... it's just appalling...

How about you take your 7 out to a simple DE...if you are in Texas I will be at the Dec 2nd Porche Club of America event at Texas World Speedway...show up and we can cease the blah blah and I can show you...My buddy with the RX-7 w/ LS1 will also be running...so you guys can talk shop...
Interesting review btw...seemed relevant...

Thank you for proving my point, again driver error is what youre basing your info on. If you put a noob driver in an Enzo and have him race an experienced driver in a Civic theres a pretty decent chance the guy in the Civic wins, that however does not make the Civic a better performer then the Enzo.
It's not just me that I use as a sample...at all the event's I have ever been to...the 8 90% of the time trumps the 7...
And generally most 8's come stock...or in my case with simple upgrades for track duty such as pads, lines, and sways...

You've got to be daydreaming when you're not there racing because even your fellow 8 drivers havent backed you up on those claims. Like I said prove me wrong with actual numbers, I know the 8 is a fairly capable machine.

No...I'm basing my statement on results proven over time from multiple drivers and multiple vehicles...

You beating some guy in an RX-7 on track means a couple of things:
1. You are probably a pretty good driver
2. The other guy is probably not a good driver
3. His car is not set up correctly
4. Your car is set up correctly
5. His car has too much power for the application/track
6. Tires
7. The list can go on.
I've been beaten by guys in CRXs on an autocross. Does the CRX beat my car in everything? No. Was the CRX race prepped? Yes. Was the guy driving it the leader of the SCCA in our area? Yes. Was the car in SM? Yup.
Basically my loss doesn't indicate that the RX-7 will lose to every CRX. Or that my RX-7 will beat every other CRX.
Anecdotal evidence never trumps scientific evidence and numbers. Everything else is anecdotal or subjective. Thats the problem with America... too easily swayed by somebody else's story... and not the facts.
And as others and myself has stated OVER AND OVER:
The RX-8 is a great car. The RX-8 is better for the daily driver, the person who wants 4 seats, a more reliable naturally aspirated rotary engine (note: SA & FC RX-7s that were naturally aspirated never had the problems turbo rotaries had), and a decent trunk. I love the way the car handles and its fun.
The FD RX-7 is a pure sports car. Ask any magazine. Ask any enthusiast. For Christ's sake, Mazda used aluminum suspension when it was "exotic", made the electrical wires as thin and short as possible to cut weight, developed the double-bubble rough for a low coefficient of drag. The car was inspired by Italian sports cars.
RX-7s to this day STILL have a CULT following. (ie. 7-Stock). They haven't changed it to 8-Stock.
The FD RX-7 only had problems in America due to Mazda's failure to properly train its technicians to work on the cars. Mazda had specially trained FD RX-7 technicians that were NOT at every dealership. And the dealerships would still take the car and attempt to fix it. When you can't fix what you make, you have to stop importing it. The FD RX-7 was still produced until 2002 in Japan because Mazda could maintain quality control. You don't hear anyone in Japan bashing the car. It has the same cult following.
It is natural to defend your car/purchase. And I am happy people are buying RX-8s! It will tell Mazda there is demand for rotary engines.
Will this post end this thread? No.

I would say you really can't compare these cars too much. You have two totally different eras of cars.
Now if you compared RX-7, Supra, 300zx; that would a much better comparison
Same would go if you compared RX-8, GTO, 350Z.
If i were back in the 90's, i would have chose the Supra. Today i would chose the RX-8.

^ you must not have read my very first post on your forum. I was pretty congenial, bragging on the 8. I like the rx8, and i like most of the people on here.....but you....ummm.....not so much. You're living in a dream world, and you seem very hurt/insecure at the idea of a 14yr old car being superior to yours.
again, superior is VERY subjective. BUT, if we are talking STRICTLY performance....theres not much to argue about.
to everyone else on this forum. Hello again! please continue.....

Hey twinkie...

So where's your proof of the 8 being a superior track car again?
Yeah, a 14 year old car just set a record and was racing against corporate sponsored new cars.

Sadly you FD owners and lovers have run into a couple of the biggest fanbois on the site. They constantly go around calling anyone that doesn't own an RX-8 or constantly preach the gosphel of the RX-8 a troll when in fact they are the biggest trolls on the board. They regularly try to start fights and will bash any car that threatens the foundation of the pedastal they put the RX-8 upon.
The FD is just the focus of their latest ire and in a couple days they'll go back to bashing Evos, STIs, G35s, S2000s, 350Zs, or whatever other car they feel threatened by in whatever new thread pops up. Luckily their attention spans are short and most people here just disregard them as the fools they are.
The RX-8 is a great car and so is the FD. They both have their strengths and weaknesses and any car enthusiast with knowledge of either car can see that. Fanbois such as these guys will only ever really see the strengths of whatever car it is that they currently own. Some of you FD guys will dance dangerously close to to that as well, but I'm sure RX-7 club has plenty of the fanboi morons that exist over there.

lol you wanted evidence that the FD was more than an antequated relic, I provide you with a brand new time trial where it not only took the event but set a track record. complete with pics and a vid...
thank you. The history lesson is much overdue for us(3 pages later lol) and I agree fully with both cars being great...
Seems some of these guys just can't acknowledge their older brother is great too...shame.

see, this is what im confused about. I NEVER claimed the rx7 was better at ANYTHING but STRICTLY performance. the rx7 is a purpose built sports car. no frills....just plain 'ol go like stink, stick to the pavement fun. your claims of the rx8 being a better PERFORMER, and track car, are down right ridiculous? and it makes me question any of your other statements.
