Personally, if a small animal like a squirrel runs in front of my car, and I know that there is someone behind me, I don't break hard... No sense risking the life of the people in the car behind me (especially if there are kids in their car) for a squirrel...

But if it's a bunny it's to be avoided at all costs! We're so cute and cuddly.

Especially those carrying "toys".

Just wrecked my SILVER Rx8 into a guardrail last week. Once its is fixed I'm selling it and getting different color. What really sucks is that my rental is a Ford Taurus. I'm hating life right now.

Wow, saxon. You disagree with me, so you have to personally insult me huh? What a charming and insightful wit you are. Schmuck.

This is why people think I'm overly cautious sometimes (as in, slowing for areas I can't see are well clear). We've got pheasants everywhere here and the oil cooler location makes me nervous,

Look on the bright side though; if you failed to see something that big, and hit it hard enough to do that damage, it's probably a good thing it wasn't a person

If it was something as large as a wolf, the critter probably didn't even know he was hit! I probably would have walked back to look for it for a bit, but just to see how much carnage I accidently inflicted on it. Bury it? Isn't that what vultures are for?!?

You want to be very careful about approaching an animal that has been injured. I was behind a car that hit a dog one day and we stopped to help. The driver of the car ran over to the dog to see how badly it was hurt and the dog attacked the guy, injuring him severely, requiring a trip to the hospital. So take care if you're ever in that position.

I respect anyones opinion, but have to ask:
is your rx8 leather? I know the steering wheel is. and do like steaks and burgers?
what about your shoes and wallet? those came from innocent lives too.

that being said, i'd feel horrible if i hit an animal. but its not like he went out hunting in an rx8. it was an accident and they happen just like you could step on a bug.

Well, I think I will feel sorry for a while. But like most of the people said, its an accident. Not like People are trying to hunt something down with their 8 (or any car) instead of a Hunting Rfile.

Theres no wolfs (or anything big?) in the city, but from time to time I have to dodge Cats and Dogs sometimes Squirrals ... I still remember there was a time, I was driving in Local streets, going for around 40 maybe 50 ? (It was a long 1 way street and it was like 2 am thats why Im going that speed). and all of the sudden I saw a cat sit right in the MIDDLE of the road with its head on the other side (meaning it didnt even cared/known that Im "coming" for it). U know a cat was quite small and its really dark so I cant even see it till like very Last monment.

I brake and ok, I stopped almost right in front of the cat before it "turned its head to me". then it walked away.

Ok. I could've just ran over it. it was really close and at first I really dunno should I stop or go as fast as I could to "fininish its stupid life". but I still tried my best to avoid it.

Since I dont like blood to spill all over my beloved 8. but hey, If I cant then, oh well. I can always wash it off with Soap and Water (Plus a sad repair bill ...)

*edited* car = cat

I agreed with you. Cuz sometimes u dunno if its a wild animal or home grow good pets. I will still tried to help but I will pull up closer in my car first. See if its "Safe" to go out. Instead of just rushing out and being killed by its last shot before it dies

Was it a senior citizen driving? Maybe an uninsured motorist, since they didn't care you were coming at them.

Probably for the best really

Running over cats to "finish their stupid life" is bad luck. Very bad luck

Well, I got my car back about 10 days after it went in. The biggest ticket items other than the obvious were one headlight (broken on the bottom), the cold air intake (pieces broken off the hard plastic) and the missing fog light. There were a lot of little pieces broken and together they add up. Oh, and this being Canada, the repair parts are a lot more than in the US. Labour was just over $1K.
I was glad to get rid of the rental Charger and get back into my '8.
