Well today is my 19th day driving the rental car - I'm quite sick of it (did I seem snapish in the For-Sale forum?). I talked to the body shop today - they have been delayed by parts. They have *almost* everything - the headlights and foglights will be arriving Friday. Then they will begin a full-court press to assemble, paint and return my baby.
I still have 11 days remaining on the clock for my rental car, but that really only gives them 7 working days if we count this Friday and some touch-up on the Monday I pick up the car. Tick-tock, tick-tock.
Worse than that - the car is 2 hours away in Rochester (really the only viable dealer option), winter is about to close on upstate NY like an iron fist, and my car still has the summer tires on it - the winter wheels are waiting at my local tire shop.
Ah, well, maybe this freakish warm streak will hold out just two weeks more. Hey, if it was 62F Monday (11/28) why can't it be 40F and dry on 12/12? Here's hoping........

OUCH those pictures hurt !!! Glad you are ok and your kids weren't in the car. Very nice quote man:
"...but I told them to not be too sad - cars can be fixed much more easily than people and all the people we care about are fine."
Very good lesson for kids to learn. Hope your back in it soon!

Like A Phoenix Rising From The Ashes.....
Finally! The deer-strike was on my 35th day of ownership. My car spent 40 days at the body shop. First 24 days waiting for parts, then 16 calendar days of re-build/re-paint, but they don't work weekends so time drags on).
However, she is once againt perfect (and soon to achieve 3,000 miles).
Kudos to Vincent Mazda in Rochester, NY for quality work and some 'above and beyond' type service. I'm headed home now (in the best and most beautiful car I've ever owned), but I'll post more details after Christmas.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to All!

Bump for a cautionary tale - it's that time of year again fellow RX-8 owners. The deer are stupid - don't trust them to stay out of your way.
....now, back to breeding coyotes......*
* They prey on the deer and can wreak havock on local deer populations. Obviously my county needs more coyoes.

In 1997 I bought a new T-Bird in August. 3 weeks later hit a deer. On the way home from the bodyshop I hit another. Two years later a few weeks before moving from Raleigh to Dallas, I hit a 3rd.
Texas still has predators not to mention more guns then any other 5 states combined, so the only time you'll see a deer is at the Zoo.
I'm surprised the Air Bag deployed. All 3 I hit were plenty stout and rolled up over the roof. Destroyed the hood, lights and windshield each time, but not near enough forward G's to deploy the Air Bags.

Unfortunately, spent airbags are spent airbags regardless of 1st or 2nd stage deployment so that added about $4,000 to the repair bill.
