Angry Hit By A Drunk Driver

Coming home last night I was going through a yellow light and some guy in a 99 vette makes a fast left turn straight into me. Luckily I swerved all the way to the right and barely avioded getting T-boned in the drivers side door. The guy hit me right behing my door and slid down my car so I span out of control down the whole street and luckily again I didnt hit a tree or go over the curb. Turns out later the guy couldnt walk and refused to do a breathalizer so police took him away hopefully he goes to jail or at least gets his license taken away but you never know with the way things work he could be driving again next week..so yah my car was pretty bad my bumper almost completly got torn off, My rim is messed up, and i cant open the suicide door....for those of you in the chicago area, the accident happened right around GOlf and Barrington RD. Im having some trouble putting up the pics so if your interseted in seeing them just look up my car domain site.

That sucks man. I drive through that intersection all the time. I don't know how laws work around here, but I assume he'll be at fault and his insurance will pay for all the damage?

Glad you're not hurt; sounds like that could've been a lot worse. Hopefully, the guy resisted arrest and had to get subdued a couple times. With a 99 Vette, his insurance should be good, at least.

Glad to hear you're ok.

That guy is probably going to get away with 1-2 years probation and a ticket for almost killing you; drunk drivers are given way too much leniency...

Glad you are alright. The guy should be flogged in public for driving drunk. I agree, we are too lenient to drunk drivers. Especially to those that almost kill others. Good luck getting everything straightened out. I hope the guy never drives again.

This really sucks man. I hope you get everything straighten out with the insurance company Obviously the drunk is totally at fault, if theres any arguments, just take it straight to court. But the most important thing to remember is that you're okay. There is another rx-8 in the future for you.

The car can be repaired or replaced. The important thing is that you are ok.
From the sound of it, it could have been much worse.

Damn drunk drivers

Ouch! that really sucks.

Well, even though he refused the breathalizer at the scene, once they got him back to the station they did do lab tests on him for sure, so I don't know why he didn't just get it over with. Silly drunks.

Sounds like some serious whiplash though, Hope it doesn't last for long. Just make sure to report any injury, no matter how minor to the insurance company, it could end up turning into something worse down the line.

Man, on friday night I almost got rear ended also. Scary!

That sucks...and to happen to a yellow car even worse because you can't just go out and replace one of those anymore.

most importantly...

Glad you weren't hurt. it does suck when someone elses stupidity ruins your stuff.

Hopefully you will get a brand new one. We had a car, not an 8, that should have been totalled but they repaired it instead, it was never the same. If you get the choice, total it and get a brand new one.

Good luck!

Gosh...I hate these kinds of threads!!!

I'm so sorry about your 8 but as we always say, at least you are OK. How many people have been killed by drunk drivers? ARRRRRRR...it's so upsetting!

I hope the best and that you and your 8 will be OK soon.

Sorry about that, GOD BLESS!!!

^^^One of my professors at school who use to be a lawyer told me that the best thing to do if your caught drunk is to refuse to take the breathalizer....b/c by the time they take you back to the station which could be located far and you can kills LOTS of time to sober up lol. I dont know if thatll help though if the man was **** drunk.

Good thing your okay though and make sure you do tell them of Any injuries at all. I REALLY HATE when ppl drive drunk and put innocent ppl's lives at risk.....I mean is it Really Worth all that Just to Get Drunk?

It's for just this reason that in some jurisdictions that refusal to take the breathalyzer test has exactly the same consequences as failing the test.

Angry hmm...yours still drives...

some STUPID lady 9without insurance) forgot that you have to actually press your breaks to make the car stop...so she used my car and the car in front of me as pretend breaks. My super hot RX-8 was totalled. Today is day 7 with no car.

No offense to anyone, but people suck!

after the accident...

my passenger burst out crying because of the impact (i think she was a bit shocked since she didnt see it coming like i did). i jumped out of the car like f*%^$&*#^ (there were a lot of bad words) you HURT MY CAR damn it.

...then i come to realize that my passenger really did get her neck hurt, not to mention the wonderful tingling feeling i still have in my fingers.

we'll survive. ...but my poor baby...
