Hmm, apparently I have a rare 2door RX-8

I got stopped and ticketed in a school zone, and I was being careful because I saw the cops.

However, the ticket says I have a 2 door car while my title (and observation) shows that my car clearly has 4 doors. Think the judge will toss it out?

Nope.
And you better not open with that, or he is really gonna stick it to you.

When I was younger I had about 30-35 tickets under my belt. They were all for speeding 5-10 over and or hanging out at the drags in the middle of no where @ 2am.
I went to court on all of them and never got any points, and always had to pay 1/2 of less of the total ticket.

9/10 times No contest is the best way to go. That's more or less saying your not saying you "did it" or "didn't do it".
It's just saying you'll pay what they ask in in return they will help you out.
Like no points or school.

If you have a good record "witch he is looking at while talking to you" he/she will most likly let you off easy.

I know from others that tring to be slick and get your way out clean doesn't work and it will make the judge turn on you if anything.

Just dress nice and be on time. Have the date set at the start of the day so the judge is rested and in a good mood, that's the best thing you can do.

Dont worry, i got ticketed too and it said two door and i thought i had a case.

The cops opening statement included the quote "....and followed what appeared to be a 2 door coupe, which, upon ruther reasearch, is a 4 door coupe with suicide style rear doors"

i got pwned.

Im not sure about your state but if its in NYC, whatever errors they put on the ticket will result in a win (you)

Cuz they suppose to follow exactly what the registration saids.

They put my father's mini van's color to purple, when his mini van is green. How obvious is that ! LOL

and I fight mine before when they put my color as Black, but its purple in fact. LOL

At first I read your post and thought the officer gave you a ticket for having 4 doors while your title stated you owned a coupe then I reread it and realized what ya meant. If you where speeding just eat it and pay it off, unless he wrote down the wrong street or the completly wrong speed. The technicality of the doors is very very minor unless he said you where driving a Dodge Viper or another real Coupe style car.

So question is really how fast did he tag ya for?

I was ticketed for going the posted speed limit instead of slowing down to the school zone speed. There were tens of cars on the road and somebody got pinged with laser, whether or not it was me or not is up to the judge, I guess. It was a speed trap.

We don't have points or school in Oregon. Everything that results in a fine goes to the DMV record, whether you plead no contest or not. The fine pales in comparison to the rate hike on the insurance.

Possible arguments which may or maynot yeild anything.
"I was going with the flow of traffic..."
"the school sign lights were not operating"
In our area the school lights blink signaling that the school zone speed is in effect right around this time (daylight savings) the schools forget to set the timers back so they dont go off at all hehe. If this is similar in your area you could plead that out as your case. "I didnt know it was in effect judge the lights to signal the start of the 20mph speed limit were not working.".

Just a idea that may or maynot work again but 'eh any idea is a idea none the least.

No, i lost. That further confirmed it was my car because it is indeed a 4 door car.
I just pulled out the ticket and it just says coupe on it. Technically its still correct because its a 4 door coupe.

54 in a 40 at 3:30 am on the way home. what a dick.

My ticket clearly says 2D. My registration clearly says 4D. No other body style info. Its a reciept style printout- the cop used some kind of PDA.

do you HONESTLY think this is going to get your case thrown out? this isn't a matter of a mispelling of your name or a wrong number in your license plate. the fact that you have four doors is irrelevant. and using that as an argument will make you lose any sympathy the judge may give you.

but go ahead and try it. let us know how much you wind up paying. :D

I got a ticket once for doing 48 in a 35.
The ticket said speeding, but no actual mph or amount over.
I went, I said look this ticket is incomplete.
The dude said u can either wait for a court date and fight it out, or ill give it to u for no points and u pay 100 bucks.
So I paid the 100 and left.

Mugatu, yes you can get it thrown out due to cop error. the cop is sapposed to right down the correct information. If he fails to you will still have to pay the fine just no points will be issued. Just like if a cop pulles you over in a marked car such as a state police car and has no hat on or uniform, You can challange that he was a officer not in uniform. Meaning the whole ticket would be vamped. I live in the state of MD and soon going to become a state police officer. I hope i was of any assistance to you. Gl with the ticket i would go ahead and try it. again gl.

i am not suggesting he doesn't go down and fight it. you should ALWAYS do that instead of just pleading guilty.

however the rumors you hear about discrepancies in tickets is WIDELY exaggerated. besides the fact that it is left up to the judge in any instance...we are not talking about a missing MPH speed here, or a misspelling. as far as the judge will see, the cop pulled this guy over doing such a speed with his license plate. pleading that the ticket is null and void because his car has four doors rather than 2 is a laughable longshot.

but like i said, he should go anyway for the chance that the cop doesnt show....since that is the only was he's getting out of it.

yes. your correct about the judge seeing that the cop pulled him over for speeding * BUT *! lol allways a but.... He will be charged for speeding aka the money price will still be there. But since the cop/ officer didn't complete the form correctly there will be nothing added to insurence.. Got what im saying? lol glad we can have great conversations like this. U guys are so great to talk to cuz you guys know stuff unlike the 350z group which all they do is bitch how people throw paint on there car and be like OMG DUDE My car got keyd! idk why! lol
