used. if i hadn't liked the sb so much, i would've gotten used, and now i wish i had. i put down 16k, enough to buy a used one, and 2 years later i still owe 8. i could go FI with that.
plus the color is hard to keep clean, and i would have been fine with another color.
get a used sport model, and mod the hell out of it. that's what i wish i would've done.

Stuck in a love triangle
At this point in time it's just not worth paying full retail for this car anymore in my opinion...just buy a used 8 that is still under warranty, and then pay for an extended warranty. I'd go for anything below 35k miles. Plus I think the 09's exterior is hideous compared to the older models too which is another reason why I wouldn't want a new one in the first place.
The only thing you'd have to worry about obviously is how much abuse the owner subjected the car to. I'd feel a little less apprehensive about buying one from someone in your area who posts on this forum rather than joe shmo because it's a little more reassuring to know that the previous owner was an individual who at least posted and spent some time on the car's enthusiast site. I think there's a better chance that someone who visits this forum maintains and takes decent care of their car than someone who doesn't.
By the way if you want that new car smell then just go take some test drives a couple times a month...not like they're going to charge you.
