Holes in the Grill

My grill has a hole in each top corner. I think there might have been a thread about it but my search came out blank. My manual shows the two corners have holes for a tie down. Are a couple covers missing?

the tie down covers are missing. installation should have been part of PDI -- you can probably point it out to your deal and they'll supply/install the missing plugs.

Thanks JDL, I'll call my dealer. Thanks for the other responses but these are large holes at the opposite ends of the grill.

Yeah, rodmeister is talking about something totally different and definitely a PDI oversight. Take it in to the dealer and have them fix it. Have you checked the glove box or the trunk? Don't forget to look at the "Flip case" located in the trunk. Either way they should be able to correct the problem. Also, Rod make sure your drivers side "carpet hook" was installed, it seems this wasn't done to a lot of cars. Get that done at the same time.

Thanks Brothervoodoo. I checked all the places you mentioned but my plugs are definitely missing. Will call my dealer. I also checked my carpet mats and found they were attatched to hooks.

I wonder if there are RX-8 drivers with the plug missing and not realizing it?

rod...

As you may have guessed by now, these holes are the access holes to the two tie down locations on the front of your RX8. The rear has one as well. If they are missing, either someone swooped them or less likely, Mazda lost them. The truckline doesn't use them to deliver the vehicle. They use holes in the frame. These tie downs are for your use. The actual tie down bolts (2) should be in the recessed area where your jack is located.

Damn! I haven't checked the rear end. If there are plugs there I didn't notice if they were missing.
