Holy bad smells, Batman

<rant>
<whine>

I am currently going through the wonderful experience of having a plastic grocery bag partially melted to my exhaust. Somewhere I ran over one and dear lord... the smell. I was able to stop by the local Mazda dealer and drive over their oil change pit so they could pull the rest of it off (damn Safeway to hell). The smell still lingers two days later. Ugh.

That sucks - I'm always dodging highway crap in this State.

It will be sunny this weekend , so drive at 90 MPH for 2 hours min - that should help.

Do a couple brake stands and fill the car up with the smell of burnt rubber instead .

All excellent advice.

I plan on getting out and taking a long drive this weekend in an attempt to burn it off. I look at it as a win-win situation. Even if the smell is still there I'll still get in a good solid day of driving.

it'll smell for a while. I got a bag on my stock exhaust right before summer and I could smell it every time I had the windows down until fall

i had the same thing happen to me just a couple of weeks ago. I was able to remove mos tof the bag. But after 3 weeks, i can still smell it through the cabin whenever i go for a spirited ride. Just barely though. Im hoping in a few more weeks the odor will be totally gone.

Why not? They blow all over the place, hang on trees, entangle and kill wildlife etc. They are antienviroment. Flying garbage when the wind blows.

They are useful and convenient. Stronger than paper, with an extremely useful handle, liquid resistant, the perfect bag. And remarkably, contrary to your comments, I fail to see trees choked with them or wildlife going extinct because of them. They are pro-environment: MY environment. And, just for the cherry on top, they save trees.

They are not biodegradeable. I suppose you like transfat in your diet and styrofoam containers for your mcdonald hamburgers for convienence. Paper bags can be made out of wood biproducts not suitable for print paper. They are also biodegradable and wont hang in trees like the one in my back yard. Ill have to get a ladder to get it down.

They shouldn't outlaw them because government intervention is not something we need more of. How's that?

And no, I don't like transfat in my diet, but dammit I'd like to make that decision myself.

Transfat is pretty much forced on us regardless. like plastic bags it's convienent. It stays in our body forever like plastic bags in our landfills.
You need intervention in these cases. We abuse freedom with wilfull apathy for our own selfish purpose and convenience. Abuse your freedom you lose it. Remember that young ones. There are consequences for what we think and do.
