Probably not far off what we'd be dealing with, but I'd be careful assuming it's a direct analog with those pronounced fender flares. I have no interest in venting my hood without a really good reason (not likely in my climate), but maybe I might sort that out once I get my car and some decent weather.
+1 for the AutoExe hood. Super nice imo and arguably one of the most rare.
The Amemiya hood is 'cool' but not rare in any way and besides, everyone tries to replicate it using a variety of methods with limited ranges of success. I also don't care for any 'track spec' products unless it's on an actual race car whereas 99% of rx8 are not and from what I've seen, they mostly end up on the 'track-rat' / cheapo builds, just saying (and phew that white s1 with the windshield stickers is not for me). I've personally grown very tired of delusional owners and the 'race cars' which represent them (whether personally owed or imaginary) and I feel I summed it up well when I spoke on the 2015 Goodwood festival attendance as those cars literally don't do anything and are purely pageantry for the masses.
On a side note, I always find it funny how serious everyone is about 'racing' their vehicle, this is an enthusiast forum at the end of the day. The majority of parties involved in professional grade motorsports are doing so out of personal business interests / relationships, etc and shops like 'Flying Miata' and 'Long Road Racing' are just another (very) small part of the auto economic chain. I've previously worked for a shop who had a 'shop race car' before, it's nothing more than a free advertisement and demo car / fun outlet on the weekends, etc. If you're interested in thoroughbred racing shop, check out GMG Racing.
Everyone these days thinks they're an engineer / entrepreneur as well as an amateur racer / budding pro, imo it's FOMO in its' highest form. Further exacerbated daily by the internet / boobTube.
Depending on what goes in those holes, might not look completely terrible. I'm a sucker for asymmetry though. That said, if the Miata pressure... chart or whatever you'd call that up there, is reasonably analogous, it might not do much more than look cool.
Information supporting hood vent placement is readily available via computational fluid dynamic (CFD) diagrams. Though these aren't specific to the RX8, they are the most similar I could find to the front and hood contours of our 8s. They show the lowest PC just as the hood is coming to a crest, i.e. just about ~11-12 o'clock relative to the front tires. Presuming complimentary work h/b completed, e.g. battery and coolant overflow reloc, OEM air box delete, and CAI install, etc.; IMV that should be where hood vents are most effective.
Pressure coefficient: high to low: R-> Y-> G-> B.

I performed a series of tests documented in my build thread to assess the performance of my vents. The below being the most effective.
Set-up:
- I tape lengths of yarn inside AND low on the vent fins. (to try to create a scenario where only air passing thru the vent would raise them)
- I also tape lengths of yarn across the hood, but NOT over vents as a control to compare the ambient air affect on them vs those in the vents.

Result:
Note: I start from a dead stop, accelerate, coast / cruise thru the curve at the end of the entrance ramp, then get back on throttle. Kinda fun to watch the truck which was passing at hwy speed when I started.

If you remove the air box and battery tray and keep the oem radiator fans orientation, venting the air from there, you will benefit from getting heat out faster, it's a plus along all the other tricks to keep it frosty.
That's why I posted the autoexe hood, the vents are properly placed. The evo ix oem vent at that place, is a solution that keeps popping on google searches and it's almost on par with the Miata example posted above.
This is the second hood these vents have been on ( I rob dahm’d the first hood) can’t remember who makes them but they are good quality thick steel. I moved the vents further back this time around so that the one on the passenger side sits very close to the turbo. It definitely moves heat out fast. I also had the wastegate pipe poking up in between the vent, but it quickly discoloured from the heat forcing me to paint them, and recirc the wg
Singular Motorsports makes them, they're aluminum unless they made them in steel early on.
I've got them on my RX8 in the recommended location.
Where you put them looks a bit better.
