Hot Engine??
I just had my engine replaced and I noticed now when I pop the hood after a trip the engine is really hot. All of the plastic pieces (engine cover, fuse box, etc) in the engine are really hot to the touch. Even the metal piece that holds up the hood is hot. Is this normal? I really don't remember how hot it used to be. Also the beep wnen the rpmz hit 9k is gone......
thanks, Layton

You wanna try opening the hood on a Jeep Cherokee after a long drive in traffic. You almost burn youself on the hood latch!! Fried eggs sunny side up anyone?
The rotary is a hot runner, but feel confident in the fact it also has a very good cooling system as well!

you can tell the engine is going to be hot just by opening the hood and looking in. That padding on the fenderwells and firewall is insulation not just for noise, but heat as well.

30 min??? Damn that's a long time. I'm in Houston where it's hot as hell and mine only runs for a couple minutes if at all. However, I usually take it easy on the last mile or so before I park her.

try having a 13B with twin turbos if you wanna talk heat lol.
A rotary motor runs damn hot as it is. Add twin turbos on top of that, and you have a recipe for one damn hot running motor. This is one of the reasons I am considering selling my 3rd Gen RX-7 in favor of the 8. I just can't drive the 7 in this hot weather and heavy traffic, it just doesn't handle it well at all.
I love my 7, but it isn't all that much fun just starring at it in the garage!
