Hot gearshift.

Is it normal for the gearshift to get so hot? I notice it primarily when the air conditioner is on. It gets quite hot.

Yeah, it will get pretty warm but you should only be touching it while shifting and please don't play with your **** while driving!
The whole cupholder area gets pretty warm. Some people have even done this....................http://www.hi-impact.org/ryang/modif...8_console.html

What! I boil my coffee in the cup holders.

All small sports cars have warm cabins.

I use my cup holders to make cup ramen noodles on those long trips.

Cool. Thanks. I gave up playing with my **** while driving. I nearly went blind.

The fix is interesting. I'll just wear a glove.

Always use protection when playing with your ****, didn't your parents teach you anything?

Get the hot ladies out of your car and it should cool down a bit.

You need to touch your **** while in Texas

Side note - I actually did make two soft boiled eggs in my cup holders. August - drove to work. Parked car at 1000 hrs; tossed eggs in cup holders and closed; windows up, sun beating down. Came out at 1300 hrs and grabbed my snack.

Would have made a DIY but I'm pretty damned lazy.

I nearly burned myself yesterday on the stock shifter! Ambient temp inside the car was 90. Just toss a cap on it or something when you leave the car.

^the cup holder would have made a nice form for the egg too, very nice. Did you use aluminum foil for easy cleanup or something?

This reminds me of a woman my mom worked with, she bought a brand new subaru in the summer, and left a cola can in it and went to work and came back and it had exploded and just destroyed the interior.

Oddly enough, I've not had a case of 'too hot to handle' shifter. Maybe I'm just lucky D:

One solution could be to tint your windows. That worked for me. Mine are @ 35%, which is legal. Depending on the color or your car, a subtle mirrored tint will reflect the heat and the light as well. If you are at work or school all day, face your car away from the setting sun...that will help heat and protect your dash and seats as well.

Has anyone other than me stuck a candy bar in the cup holders just for a short time and ended up forgetting about it? Anyway, if you have not, don't.

Don't feel bad, I had a box of baker's chocolate come open and a piece fall out in the bottom of my trunk....I didn't know it was there until I was reaching for something and felt it.........talk about scaring the sh*t out of me at first and then grossing me out....At first I thought that my cat had actually gotten in the car..EWWWWWWWW....

Imagine presented with the question.....Do I smell it to see what it actually is????? ROTFLMAO....and looking around at the same time to to see if no one is watching when you do..

My son left a pint of milk in his cup holder of his car seat and I forgot to take it out. This was on Friday. I get in the car on monday and didnt see it till the afternoon. When I took out the carton it felt like it was full of cheese and smelled like it was full of poo.

So the RX8 has the ability to turn milk into cheesy poo.

^haha great.

I left two bags of lawn clippings in the trunk of a car for two weeks. Had some good fertilizer after that, but the car smelled like mold for the next week.
