Houston Car Show - RX-8 - WRX - EVO - G35
I went to the Houston Car Show today and got a chance to further exam the WRX STI the G35C and the Mitsubishi EVO. It just reinforced my decision on why I bought the RX-8. The Evo and the STI looked to Civic looking inside and the G35C just didn't have a sports car feel to it inside. They are all great performing vehicles, but for my taste I would never give up my 8 for any of them. A side note I talked with a Mazda guy there and he asked me how I like the 8. I told him it was great but I just wished the fuel economy was a bit better. He said that someone told him they got 29 mpg on a long highway trip. I just smiled and said they must not drive as fast as I do. I would love to know how to get that kind of mileage out of our cars...

people have recently started reporting higher Gas Mileage. want my opinion dont worry about it and just enjoy the car...
as for the others cars here is my view on em
EVO: i need another 30K i want one this is the car i had a deposit on til i saw the 8 and decided i wanted the looks/rotary (something new to learn) over the power and the interior could def use some refinement
WRX STI: Fast car not my style when it comes to looks.. tooooooo much going on with that hood scoop
G35C: call me when u get awd n turbo

When it comes to rippen it at the stoplight and as the old cliche goes, there's no replacement for displacement, except for massive forced induction, then the Mustang is it, especially the Cobra but I'd rather have the handling and rotary whine of the 8. Well, how can I put this without sounding juvenile, cause it's kewl! Maybe since Ford owns a good share we will see better handling Mustangs and more powerful rotarys in the future designs, let's just hope they keep the quality and reliability up if it happens.

The new Mustang's got a really cheap and old suspension. The handling will suck for sure.

What's important here is how rigid will the plaform be (super modified LS/Thunderbird platform) and the specific suspension tuning Ford uses.

Ford's sub-compact and compact cars are a different story. The Mazada 3's platform has already been used by Volvo... it was actually developed by Ford, Mazda and Volvo... not just Mazda. Ford will be using it for their small car.

Mustang enthusiasts? Is that an oxymoron?

Ford tried to replace the fox platform much earlier... around 1987/88 with what became the Ford Probe. Mustang enthusiasts revolved against a turbo 4 banger and especially front wheel drive... thus the car became the Probe (yes I know this was the Mazda MX-6). Ford marquee vehicles like the Mustang, Thunderbird, GT and trucks will inherit little if anything from Mazda...
