how can I identify how often I got flashed ? :-)

Does anyone know a way to make the RX-8 display the firmware version? I remember vaguely that there was some insider trick to display internal codes over the speedometer. Could a version number be displayed that way?

I expect that each of those ECU flashes would show a different version number.

Geez...but I guess being flashed that way is MUCH better than being flashed by a dude in a raincoat.

N-E-ways...I am interested in the RX flash question also. There must be a way of finding out what is in the car.

I would like to know myself if there is a way. The only tip I know is that the "L" flash can be checked by pumping the brakes and noting the oil gauge "sweep". The "L" is the only one that did that, but now we have "M" coming, so I don't know!

Do i need it in gear out of gear? Just pump the breaks when at a stand still.. I'll try that.

you need to tun off car. turn ignition to on, but do not start car, and pump brake for at least 20 times in 8 seconds. Good luck

Wasn't that the trick to reset some sort of computer gizmo that told the car how you drive or something? I read about that 20 pump in another thread somewhere.

Cool Clear.....

Yes, that is the procedure to clear the non-volatile memory, but that re-learns in about the first mile anyway.

When you 'key-on, pump x 21, inside 8 seconds', the oil pressure 'gauge' will sweep from 0 to 'normal', then back, if you have the latest (L) flash.

Previous versions don't do it.
