How did your airbag/damper recall work go?

I jokingly said "that will improve the gas milage and increase the horsepower, right" They said YES! - I repeat, "how dumb are these guys?"

I had both recalls done a few days ago. Thankfully when I picked up the car and checked the glovebox, it still dropped down nice and slowly.
I did not have as much luck with the reflash though. I'll wait till next time and tell them I'm having problems and show them the TSB. That seems to be the best way...

i took the glove box out after i got my car back because it wasnt dropping down slow anymore. they broke the loop on the end of the damper.

It a combination of both. Some dealers do forget to reattach it, but I think more often then not it is broken, due to how fragile it is. The plastic ring that attaches to screw is easily breakable. Mine was broken, and I just recently had dealer replace the part. You could certainly tell if the part is broken or not connected. If you pull the damper down, and see the plastic ring is apart, it's broken, if it's still in tact, you can actually do it yourself very easily by pulling down and attaching to screw.

I wonder why almost all dealerships break that glove box damper including mine. May be it is faster that way. :o
At least my dealership ordered the replacement part for me and installed it withou much hassle.

So I guess I'm the only one that got their car back with problems? I immediately noticed much more "engine noise" from within the cabin. And I can hear the transmission whining. Everything just sounds much louder.... Is this normal? If not I'm calling those bastards back. Engine noise is about twice as loud as before.
