you dont actually "shave" you remove the emblem and then you will have 2-3 holes dont know exact amount. then you fill in the holes and have it painted some cars the emblems are on with sticky stuff so its alot easier just a point of cleaning the paint i wish it was that way with all cars

Dental floss and a blow dryer. But it has 3 holes behind it!

are u serious?? I dont want holes I thought it was just like the dealer sticky stuff where all you need is a hot gun and just peel it right off, I was expecting to heat it up and just use a flat "non scratching" blade to pop it off...

hey limepro how do you know whether its stuck on by screws or sticky adhesive?

you dont really until you actually do it for most of them but i know the rx-8 is stuck on by screws you can test by taking a piece of paper and slide it under the badging if it goes under pretty easily its screws if it doesnt its sticky

The RX-8 doesn't have anything behind it. I removed mine and replaced it.

No worries, there are some threads out there somewhere about this. Some people have put other badges in place of the Mazda one to get around filling and painting the holes.

I think I'll fill my de-badge holes with black silicone...
the cheap bastard that I am...
Or perhaps insert some LED's in them...

They all are stuck on. The RX-8 badge is the only one that does NOT have pins in it. The other 2 on the back and the one on the front all have pins/holes securing them as well as sticky tape. Hope this helps.

I was thinking the same thing. Post pics if you do it. My concern is the symmetry - lights on one side only might make me wanna Don't know if you have one, but the black vinyl 'third brake light' sticker looks great, imo. It "masks" the brake light nicely on the BB.

OP - unfortuneately, the responses you got are correct. Pulling the Mazda badge will leave holes. I think you can go in from under the trunk lid and get behind them so you don't risk the paint. But I haven't tried yet.

I was thinking 2 red LED's connected to the brake light (where the "Flying M" emblem is).
And black silicone to plug the holes where the Mazda emblem is...
I'm not real big on Rice so I'm not sure I'll do it.
