How do you burn out on an automatic?

How do you burn out on an automatic?
How do you burn out on either a 4-port or 6- port automatic? Without damaging your transmission. Cuz I've heard that you can put it in neutral, rev to redline and then change it to drive but I've heard that this damages your tranny. Any other suggestions on how to burn out?

Yep, that will make the tires squeal. I used to do that in my 1968 Plymouth Valiant when I was 18. It had a slipping transmission before I started doing that. Doing "Neutral Drops" made it worse.
I wouldn't recommend it on a fine car. You bought the wrong car to do burnouts. Get a Rustang.

Maybe he likes uneven tire wear?? But if your bent on doing one also turn off the DSC and pour bleach on your rear tires.
This reminds me of my last burnout back in in the late 80's. I had this Chrysler with a worked 340 V-8. The burnout was so 'cool' but gear oil got into the rear brake drums. Cost me over $600 to fix the damage all that coolness cost. Sometimes I miss the pre internet days, when youthful stupidity was confined to ones circle of friends.

Here's my input:
My car is healthy enough that at sea level I can chirp the tires on dry pavement with a 2k rpm brake-launch.
At this altitude, I cannot chirp the tires even with a brake launch.
I have, however,"burned out" once. I was at taco bell at the drive thru window on concrete, had my car in neutral, hit the throttle and got to 3-4k rpms, realized I was in neutral, and for some reason instinctively slammed it into drive. The tires spun for like 3-4 seconds and made a nice, loud peel out sound (more then a chirp). It didn't feel bad on the tranny, but I wouldn't do it again.
I have heard from Easy that with his 55 shot nitrous he has enough power to burnout in first.

uh? Automatic NA burnouts? haha
Options
1. Drive your sexy car and never worry about it
2. Sell your car for a mustang
3. Get a manual RX-8, turn off DSC and dump the clutch at about 4k(like your supposed to)
4. Test your theory of neutral dropping and see what happens to your tranny after oh the second "burn-out"
5. Hit a brickwall or something to lock the front wheels and turn off DSC and pop it into tiptronic mode and floor it in first. Add water or bleach under rear wheels for cool effects.
Just my $.02

TBH, I've always wondered how they did the burnouts before the drag. I had seen it done personally...by dumping the clutch and holding the break an little..but whenever I tried it in the same car, I FAILED. That's one of the main reasons I don't go to the track, I'd make a fool of myself in 1/4 mile time and burnouts

Turn DSC off. Rev to like 4-5k . Step off the clutch like instantly. You'll move a little bit. But let the gas go to the floor. Quickly begin braking to stop the car from moving then slowly lessen the force on the brake. And then its a balance between the gas and brake. If tooo much brake, you will stall.

I did it =] lmaooo with intake and midpipe. break and gas.. i saw rpm go to 7k and the cars still in place. Here's a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Cw0qlkWNLQ

by the way please save yourself a new tranny and don't do the reving to redline and droping it into drive. You will screw up everything. Don't treat an 8 that way. If you wanted to waste $ on tires then buy a manual car and burn out all day.

the problem is horsepower. not the transmission.
125whp@redline, so the horsepower available for you at 2k rpm using your brakes is just... negligible.
5whp+10whp for intake and midpipe puts turbovtecs car at 140whp. add in wet slick concrete and i guess burnouts are possible.
